I think everyone can relate to this song at some point......i reckon it's about being stoned, or maybe just about having panic attacks etc......i don't know, whatever it's about this song kicks ass, green day always did, and they will continue to, there's so much argument about whether their old or new stuff is better, i love both! i mean, come on they are getting older, the songwriting is going to mature! i love both, but thats just my opinion.
I also love the way the bass comes in on this song, how the hell can a bass note be so affective? i don't know, but nevertheless green day rock! |

Every song i listen to, i admire Billie Joe as a song writer more and more, i mean the lyrics to this song are so clever, i don' think many people could come up with lyrics like these. Green day songs never cease to amaze me, not just with the lyrics but with the impact of the instruments, it's just brilliantly written in all aspects, in my opinion. I think this song is about someone who takes drugs and is the sort of "leader" of a gang, that jesus (who i believe to be a suburban kid who ran away) somehow finds him self involved in. But then my interpretation is probably incorrect! |

i reckon this song has the same sort of meaning, as blink 182 "give me one good reason" and all the other "punk" bands "anthems" example, blink 182, good charlotte. Yet none of these done it with such originality, "minority", i mean they could have called it "the anthem" like other bands do, but being green day, they came out with a totally original song, with an original title, and some lyrics that a lot of people can relate to! i mean, you have to be an amazing songwriter to make something so original, i know they probably done the whole "i don't care" thing before all the other bands caught on, but , still fantastic songwriting none the less, i've always thought billie joe was an amazing songwriter, and this just backs it up! |

When i first heard this song, i thought it was just another nice green day song, but after reading these posts i realise that it may be a silent tribute to his father and september 11. Billie Joe must be one of the best songwriters in the world to be able to put the 2 together and produce such an excellent song. It all ties together looking at the dates his father died, and the 20 years has gone so fast, and all the other time references. It makes sense. This is an amazing song where billie joe's talent can't be denied. |

i see your point, but on the other hand busted tried to convince everyone they were a hevay rock band even thought they were very pop, where as mcfly always admit they are pop, thats what i didn't like about busted. Mcfly took inspiration from popular 60's bands, example, beach boys and the beatles, and the guitar is much better in the mcfly album than busteds, however i totally respect your opinion, but to be honest i really don't like busted! |

your opinion, maybe. but compared to some groups who people consider "rock" he is a much better singer. At least he can hit the right notes rather than screaming down the mic which i just can't see the appeal of. Their lyrics may not be the most meaninful and i admit their songs are annoying, and tom cannot sing, but if there is one compliment i can give them is that danny is a good singer, if it's not your style then i totally respect that, but just beacuse you don't like his voice it doesn't mean he can't sing. |

this song has a really cool bass line.This song is a bit old now and the video was awful, but you have to give them some credit for it being number 1 for 2 weeks. It's obvious what this song was about..so i won't go into that......i think they released this first to show everyone that they didn't think they were punk or rock, but purely pop, which they were ok with , and i think that's cool, this is probably the most "pop" cd i have, but if they had pretended to be punk or whatever i never would have bought it. Danny is a pretty good guitarist for a 17 year old (he was when they released this song anyway) not the best, true, but on the album there are some pretty good lead solos on the album, which is better than some bands who's complete album collection is power chords.The solo in that girl, amazing live. |

o god! i really hate busted, i'm from swansea and i heard them calling swansea girls sluts on mtv, so not only r they pathetic at music, but they feel it's necessary to insult their fanbase. Lets face it busted are shit so they really shouldn't be driving away the few fans they have. Besides, can 8 year olds actually be sluts? Busted r pop and nothing else! if u like them then fair enough, but don't try and make out that their rock... cos their not, and they probably know it themselves or they wouldn't have to insult their few fans to try and make themselves look "bad".
