I believe Amy used Lithium in this song as a metaphor of her love for Shaun. She still loves him, but she doesn't want to get locked up inside that feeling because if she does, she might begin to regret breaking up with him. She's trying to find herself and move on. She realizes that his love just gave her false happiness, like Lithium does, and she doesn't want to get closed up in that false happiness. |

This song is simply amazing. It makes me cry every time I hear it. This is going to be my wedding song, for sure.
I think it means that he's so in love with someone that, no matter what they did to him, even if they used him and then left, he'd still be there for them if he ever thought they needed him. He'd take a bullet, a car or bus, a mad dog, anything. He'd help them, do anything for them, even if it killed him.
I went to their concert a few months ago. There was a pit going the entire time, but when this song started up, the pit vanished and people took out cell phones and lighters and everyone was swaying and singing along. My ex looked right at me during this song, the entire time they played it. That part was kind of creepy but the song itself and the effect it had on everyone was amazing. |

Beautiful song with very meaningful lyrics. I love it. Personally, I think it's about the 'one that got away'. We've all had that time, when you loved someone so much that, even after you broke up, you still feel something for them and all you want is to have back what you used to have, but you know it will never happen. And that just kills you inside. |

This is just a beautiful song. I've heard (and I trust my sources) that they wrote it for a friend of theirs that was in an accident. I can relate to this song, because the first time I heard it was right after I'd learned that my cousin had been in a car accident, coincidentally caused by a drunk driver. I had no clue if he was alright or if he was even going to live if he was 'alright' at the moment. I just started crying my eyes out and I couldn't stop for the longest time because it scared me so much that I could lose my cousin. This song means a lot to me, because my cousin survived and I thank my lucky stars (and his) that God was watching out for him that night. |

I love this song. It has helped me through some of the rough patches in my life and I confess that I probably wouldn't be here if it hadn't been for this song. It does make you think, and it took all of my friends talking to me and this song to make me realize that it'll be hard for all of my friends to let go if I did happen to just die. So, say what you want, but I'll always like this song. I can't change anyone's mind, but you can't change mine either. If you don't like the band, then don't put up and effort to leave comments. Alright, I can already see that there are quite a few of you who disagree and say that this song 'sucks' or that it isn't all that good, but I think otherwise. Amy Lee's high vocals mixed with Shaun's lower vocals make this song a pretty well-done duet. They've managed to find a beautiful harmony, and I'll just say this: Normally, unless you've sung with your 'partner' or the person you're trying to do a duet with very much, then it's very hard to get a harmony that pretty. The chances of getting it are slim to none, so I congratulate them both on their hard work for this song. Take this from a girl who knows from experience how hard it is to find actual harmony. There is a lot more I'd like to say, but it will no doubt end up making someone mad, so I'll just end my say here and leave out with my nobility and dignity still intact...unlike SOME people *coughs names* |
