I think this song is how life is hard, and it doesnt get easier. "And your not really sure what your doing this for, but you need something to fill up the days." How the only true happiness that can really be experienced in life is through your dreams, because in the real world, everything just gets so fucking sour. "And then the bridge dissapears and I'm standing on air, with nothing holding me." That line contains the feeling of letting go of all your troubles, nothing matters anymore because you can't do anything about anything. Then when the lines "But now I'm confused, is this death really you? And do these dreams have any meaning?" come, it's, IMO, Conor waking up and coming back to reality, realizing that that happiness was only a dream. It wasn't real, only something more like a feeling.
