i agree that the lyrics are weak but hearing the song with the piano illustrates that it is a simple song...why use mass amounts of metaphors and depth when it can be said simple...obviously the death metaphor she used was a little too much for some to comprehend...
throughout the song there are lines like "every time i walk out the door i see him DIE a little more inside", "it kills him inside" and "i can see him dying" it makes sense that she feels like a murderer...i don't find that line out of place or stupid or anything...it completely fits the song...in a literal sense her actions are tearing him up inside so much that she feels like she's killing him...

well in my lyrical poetry class we talked about this...it is not about a relationship at all...his best friend had a problem with drinking and he tried to help him out....turned out to be a lost cause...i think the friend died but i'm not 100% sure...good song anyway... |

my favorite lines:

I fell in love with this song the first time i heard it...just anna's outlook on the way life is and how we try to fix things that we can't...we can't go back to the past, we can only go forward...she's saying you just have to keep living no matter what it's your way because life's going to go on anyway...
my favorite line is:

this was actually a song i did for a dance class and we interpretted it together...we found it was about a stalker-like admirer who won't leave her alone...all she does is keep turning him down but in the nicest ways possible because she doesn't think this relationship or crush could be true...probably a result from a bad experience she doesn't trust anyone especially someone who is pursuing her with such intensity... |
