It's called "Little Leauge Syndrome". It's an actual disorder. When parents live vicariously through their children it can cause the child a mental disorder. It was this song that gave me the idea to write a play for Directing class on this topic.
I mean, I'm close with my parents but I'm so glad the don't push me to "make up for what they blew." |

Public Enemy wrote this song when rap was just becoming popular. It was written about black-empowerment by them.
The Ladies just decided it would be hilarious for a bunch of white guys to do a song about black-empowerment. I agree. Steve singing "I'm black and I'm proud" is so funny. |

I agree, this is a funny song, somehow.
I wrote a short story loosely based on this song. Everyone thought it was so good. The whole message of taking movement for granted. I of course did not take credit, I gave it to BNL rightly.
And also, this was a naked song. That could be why it is so funny. |

Quick funny story...
I was feeling kinda down a few years ago, so one day I decided to inspire myself by putting the lyrics "I go to school, I write exams. If I pass, if I fail, if I drop out, does anyone give a damn? And if they do, they'll soon forget, 'cause it won't take much for me to show that my life ain't over yet." on the inside of my locker.
Now, any half-wit can tell you those lyrics are kinda uplifting and empowering.
I got called down to the principlas office to discuss my suicide note. Man, some people just can't look at the poetic sides of things. |

I am on anti-depressants so I can shield myself from all the harsh things going on around me. I was crying all the time. I thought the world was shit. With the pills, I didn't have to deal with utter sadness anymore.
I think that is what Steve was trying to say. So many awful things go on in the world all the time. With our "Happy Pills", we can make it all go away in our minds. By popping Prozac or smoking a joint, we can make the pain go away. |

C'mon, this song is the reason for the Barenaked Ladies. If Steve never did this song with Geoff and Ed never played it, my life would... hopeless. |

This song means nothing to me, because I have never heard it. Anyone know where I can get it? I own almost every song of theirs but not this one. |
