anyways- i didn't like this song at first when i got the cd, but it totally grew on me. you guys are right about how chilling it is. I absolutely love it.I saw them in concert and he just plays the marimba and hooks his guitar up to a petal. This way he plays the marimba and turns the guitar on for the distortion durring the guitar bursts. It was amazing. I couldn't figure out how he did it at first. Ah wow |

i think that "sugar" refers like to affection as specifically kissing (you know- give me some sugar, honey). i think that he's saying that affection never felt so good as it did with this one person. like he had kissed other people before, but none of them were as good as with her. and also "untill her eyes crossed over" is basically saying thatshe didn't like him like that, at first, but then she changed and got feelings for him. or maybe (i say thins because of "pulling on these puppet strings") she just kinda wanted to use him- treat him like a puppet. i think that he liked her, but at first she didn't like him. then she saw that she could get soemthing from him and so she "pretended" to fall in love with him. he was really in love tho-but he sees he's being used. she was babying him too- which is why he " felt just like a baby" "untill i held a baby"- which is like he came to the realization that he was being used. |

wow, i got the cd and this song is the first one that jumped out at me. this song has the intensity and emotion of old rock- real rock. i'm not exactly positively sure what it means tho... i've only listened to the cd twice all the way through (but htis song like 10 times already). my guess is that there's an unspoken "secret" going around, and everyone can see it, but the person this song is written about. and he just wants her to see, so he doesn't have to say anything.( ya my guess is it's about a girl) |

this song is so beautiful. it's one of the most romantic things i've heard in a long time. i think it's a guy deep in love talking about his girl. i always thought that this song actually had meaning to jack. like in my mind, he's talking to maybe his mom or another lady, who he is trying to be respectful to but he's having trouble b/c she is so difficult. she's trying to say well you SHOULD be in a profitable businesses like oil, gold, shipping and real estate. She is asking him what he would have liked to be instead of doing music- and he says if he were anything else, she wouldn't like any better than what he is. he is saying that she really dosen't know him(I'll bet you five you're not alive,If you don't now his name) and that even though the white stripes have become popular, he's still the same person he always was and he's not going to change. he also wished she could love him for what he is.
