ok, this song is obviously about drugs. ..kidding, kidding ;) Adam is a genius. It's a great song. Yeah, the song may seem a little corny, but love can be corny. It's a happy song. Sometimes everyone needs a happy song. I wasn't aware of this song until the day I saw Shrek 2, and I almost had a heart attack when I realized it was Counting Crows playing the opening song, I sat there in awe, and I loved it, it's so upbeat and catchy and happy. And like ckad79 said, if you're an Adam fan, you can still appreciate at least parts of the song. And hey, they can't help that it blew up. When a song is in a movie as big as a sequel to Shrek, the songs are going to get big. Remember the Smash Mouth cover of I'm A Believer for the first Shrek? I still hear that on the radio all of the time. I think AIL will be around for awhile, too. And remember-Counting Crows are the ones letting us all bootleg and tape their shows and then distribute them all over the internet. How mainstream or non-mainstream their songs get doesn't even matter. They'll always be the greatest in my heart. |

i finally got it! she says that "the dove of hope" "began its downward slope" "i thought it was a bird but it was just a paper bag" the bird is the aforementioned "dove of hope", but it wasnt hope that she thought was falling from the sky, it was just a paper bag..something other than what she was expecting..something she doesnt really need or want i guess? |

Okay..someone needs to take an anatomy class...because our lungs are filled with air, not water. Not 90% water. No, really now, they're filled with air. Otherwise you'd die. Because you wouldn't be able to breathe. I really hate it when people say "need you like water in my lungs" is something good or nice to have? Er.. you'd suffocate...drown..and ultimately, die. And last thing I checked, suffocating, drowning and dying weren't good things. A six year old could tell you that. I'm with bobjank on the "i need this like a hole in my head" comment. It's a good song, Brand New is excellent. |

Wow.. I sort of skipped over this song somehow while listening to When the Pawn.. It's a great song. I think it's sort of sad because she's being so patient for this guy, "amidst the bitterness".. you can only hold on to someone like that in that situation for so long. |

I LOVE these faggots!!! This song is awesome! The title, Liquid Dreams, is a better term for wet dreams, and they made it all sort of classy, if that was even thought to be possible. People have criticized them for calling it Liquid instead of Wet, but whoever would put out a song called 'Wet Dreams' must be straight-up skanky and they're not going to sell many records. Oh wow, these lyrics aren't quite right; it's "Don't add up to anything", not "Don't know how to do anything".. that mistake kind of distracts from the meaning. it sounds a lot like my parents. at that point in the marriage it definitely shows how diamonds and babies and cars really don't add up to anything. even a diamond ring is just a symbol. to value a car is kind of just materialistic. and the parents are too busy fighting to really value the children. it leaves you wondering what is left. my favorite line; "my turn this time they cried/and everyone walks in a line/around and around in a circle until they die/my turn this time they screamed/and diamonds and babies and cars/don't add up to anything.." anyway, colormegray was right, it's by The Himalaymans, not CC, i was wondering why there isn't a Himalayans page on here.. but their website is http://thehimalayans.com . that band was pretty awesome. |

this song is incredibly down-to-earth. you just..take the words for what they are. "the sadness comes when it's least expected/it's shot out of the dark and slammed in our face/the hurt it brings can't be stopped/the hurt it brings can't be cured" it's like..when you least expect it, you realize it's over and that you've lost them...and it hurts so much that the feeling doesn't just go away..and the other person probably doesn't understand how you feel. "just when I thought things were alright/you came and ripped out my heart/my stomach's full of butterflies/the thought of you gone/it tears me apart" just when you think things are alright, you realize that youre kind of just...not alright. it makes you physically sick. and the thought of that person gone literally tears you apart. and it hurts an awful lot, trust me. "i remember you and me when we used to/laugh all night until we fell asleep/and i know we're through/but i've still got thoughts of you left inside my head" he remembers how together they were and the good times, and he acknowledges understanding that its over, but also that he cant shake the thoughts of her.. and just one more verse to comment on; "so stop me now/stop my thoughts cause you're killin me/but you don't know/even though we've grown apart/i'll still be there for you/cause I don't wanna be just a memory to you.." he needs help to stop from thinking about it so much because it's really killing him. and even though they can't be together in love..he wants her around because he needs her. sadly, all that he wants in this is impossible to get. at least thats what i've found. |
