This songs is a masterpiece... I don't think it's about going down on someone though.... It was pefect for the final scene in LIT. A fucking great song and a fucking great movie! BTW did you know the part where Bob whispers in Charlottes ear right at the end? That was (apparently) improvised, and only Bill Murray and Scarlett Johanssen know what he said.... Love it. |

If there were more American's who thought like you and Gordan Gano, you'd have a far less fucked up nation! I'm just hoping and praying for someone to do the same for Britain, I would, but I'm a talentless arse who can't sing or play an insrument!!!! Don't let the bastards get you down! |

I love this song, it reminds me of what little I remember about my college years!!!!! "did you do too many drugs? I did too many drugs. Did you do too many drugs too?" Anybody else smile when they think of the conversations they have with people when you're high? "Oh! We Have soooooo much in common! We have to get together again sometime!" Yeah, I did too many drugs... Will this go down on my permenant record?! |

*boing*! indeed! And I agree with the Master_deabater... You would have to be totally out of touch with the angst-filled teen in you not to realise what this song is about... The desperation of trying to 'get some' while you live with your folks... Not having a car of your own... Having to practically beg permission to have a life.... And they're supposed to be the best years of your life? SO glad I made it to my 20's, I assure you it all get's better! |

I agree with DADSonACID.... Totally brilliant Xylophone solo!!!! I love that the Femmes use so much percussion in their music... Not entirely sure about the meaning though. Someone searching for love and not finding it? Anyone actually know for sure? |

Gordon Gano has such a great way of writing truely bitter songs!!!! This is a song about someone who's held a torch for someone for some time, never had the courage to say anything and has missed the boat when she meets someone... A sorry state of affairs and we've all been there I'm sure. I think the fact that he has quite a whiney voice (not a bad thing at all!) compliments this track really well! |

Why has no-one commented on this song? The amount of angst-fueled people on this site, and not one peep? This is great song, I've been out of school for 6 years and I love it when I see the people who I hated and they're completely miserable with their pathetic and dull lives... Is that wrong of me??? Oh yeah, I should say, This song is (quite clearly) about having been told you're nothing by so many people for so long, and then making something of yourself and sticking it all right up their arse!!!! Love it!!!! |

Man! You missed out BIG time! If they're in town again... GO! I really like this song too, it's oddly upbeat for a song dealing with suicide. And do yourself a favour, bookmark their website, check it daily and as soon as gig near you is listed book a ticket..... Love it!!!! |

| Violent Femmes – I Held Her In My Arms Lyrics

All good comments, but I see this as more of a song from someone's POV who is completely hung up on someone and is trying to get over them but compares every lover to the object of their affection 'I held her in my arms but it wasn't you' . Each to their own though. Great song whoever's right! |

This song is one of the few tacks that no matter how fucking angry I get, all I have to hear is the intro, and it's all so much lighter! Yes it's about masturbation, but hey, a good song is a good song is a good song! It's even better live, I saw them while on holiday in SFO and I've seen them in London... They rock! |

| HIM – Please Don't Let It Go Lyrics

One of the reason's HIM's lyrics are sometimes quite repetative and not always that good is because they are from Finland, and as English isn't their first language there's a bit of a barrier.... But what a great song!!!!!!!!!! As I've said on other postings, I'm in a long distance relationship and this is one of those songs, when I hear it I think, wow! Someone really understands my situation! And when it gets me down, I can listen to this and know that it's as bad for my boyfriend as it is for me..... So, many thanks to Ville Valo for this track! |

This is like a desperate plea to someone who just isn't communicating with their partner (something I can certainly identify with) The perfect song to crank up and shout along to when you are stressed out and need a bit of release!!! Love it!!! |

| Ween – I Don't Want It Lyrics

Another BRILLIANT ween track... I don't know if I'm reading too much into it, but to me, it seems like a relationship has broken down, and it's written from the point of view of the partner that didn't want to see it end "I understand it, but I don't want it"... It seems that the person knows that they didn't do everything they could to salvage the relationship, but isn't willing to accept all of the blame. It's a top song and if you haven't heard it I'd recommend it... Along with a dose of "(it's gonna be) alright". We've all been wherethese songs are about.... Crackin' man! |

I really dig ween's style. They are such a varied band, and this is one of my favourites... It's not as wierd and goofy as their other stuff, but it's a really meaningful song to me. I'm in a long distance relationship, and until I'm move I live 6,000 miles from my boyfriend... He made me a cd before he went home and this was on it. For about a month I listened to it every day... Think what you will of that! I cannot say enough about this song. Love it!!!!! |

| Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics

I can't believe I've sat here and read all the shitty comments people have to say about this song... If you don't like it just fucking listen to whatever you're into and sto antagonising others about their taste in music... There are bound to be tracks in your music collection that others find appauling that have deep meaning for you, why do you have to piss on someones parade? I have suffered from depression myself and this song has some of the most honest lyrics about the subject I've ever heard, I've sat in room alone before and thought about ending it all... and the line "another 6 months and I'll be unknown" you wonder if people will miss you and remember you once you've gone, and "please tell mom this is not her fault" I was lucky enough to realise that although the thought of continuing my life seemed too difficult and at some points futile, it was better than ending it all and leaving behind a legacy of pain and guilt for those I love and care about... So fuck you and grow up... Go back to your Britney Spears teeny-bobber happy-pappy crap and leave those who want to discuss the lyrics positively to do so without being shat upon for doing so. |

This is one of my all time favourite songs.... EVER. It's fucking beautiful!!! She's got so much tact, "you are a china shop, and I am a bull. You are really good food, and I am full." How eloquent is that?!?!?! I love you Ani, for giving me this song to put on repeat a thousand times!!! |

| Bob Marley and the Wailers – Redemption Song Lyrics

The first time I heard this song, I was sitting in Jenna Williams' older brother's room, getting stoned for something like the 2nd time ever... I remember hearing the line "emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds" and feeling for the first time ever that I could do anything if I put my mind to it... of course I didn't, instead I continued doing drugs and got more and more into music, but I'll tell you one thing, I've never looked back, I'm proud of who I am and I thank Bob for enlightening me.... BTW angelgarbage I think you'll find Mr. Mojo and Bob are speaking along the same lines "How long will they kill our prophets, while we stand aside and look, some say it's just a part of it we've got to fulfil the book" this was Bob talking about the habit we, the human race, have of killing the people sent to educate us, enlighten us and evolve our way of thinking.... I suggest you look up Bill Hicks (not a musician, a comedian) and listen to his stuff.... |

| R.E.M. – Strange Currencies Lyrics

This is one of their finest songs ever.... I'm with Butterfly... on this one. I think it's about someone who's so intensely fixated on one person.... And I guess he calls them all the time (which, Michael, might explain why they're mean to you... If I'm right that is...) The "I'm gonna need a chance, a second chance..." part suggests that nothing has happened between them, and he's desperate for the opportunity to show this person that he'll try not to screw up, but be patient because nobody's perfect.... And "Just to fool myself, catch myself make it real..." he's been caught up in his own thoughts so much, he's desperate to make a go of it... And we've all been there! |

Yeah it's about Kurt Cobain.... So. Don't ge me wrong, I love Nirvana as much as the next person, but it doesn't matter who it's about. The fact is this is an amazing song, the lyrics bring so many images to mind.... "Stars drip down like butter". BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! "I've got tar on my feet and I can't see" Totally random but SOOOO moving! If I died and someone wrote a song about me I'd be so touched (not that I'd be around to appreciate it...) I'll shut up now. |

Hell yeah honey! This is a truly worthy song!!! I love the lyrics and the music just sends a chill down your spine....
And, of course, it's involvement with the Crow gives it a little more credibility... Although there were a lot of great tunes on that ST ans this wasn't the only reason to buy it.
Like you, I was shocked no-one else had commented. |
