this song is so simple and beautiful. it's like..he loves her and that's all there is. nothing else to think about or contemplate..just that. just love. it's wonderful. my favourite line is "i drew a line, i drew a line for you" becuase sure i can mean several things that are deeper, but if you just picture it as someone just drawing a line for someone...it sounds stupid but it is just like....simple and pure and wonderful. |

on the note of david bowie being homosexual, bisexual, etc., i heard from an interview otherwise. ok so in the seventies or whenever i forget when, he announced to the world that he was gay, which shocked most of the world, because you know how the world is. in a later interview, he was asked about it and he said no, he was an in the closet heterosexual. kinda like in the closet homosexuals (people who are afraid to show they are gay) but he was afraid to show he was not gay. |

i think it is about society and not noticing or realizing the better things cause they are blinded by whatever and it includes war cause they are like..in war fighting whatnot but.....he sees what you're supposed to see and points it out to listeners. he starts off with such an obvious one to show that we havent been noticing "so you think you can tell, heaven from hell" and we only think we can tell but we cant and yeaH. |

i love this song. on echoes it is right after shine on you crazy diamond, which is soooooo spread out so im almost asleep when the alarms from time wake me up for the next song. sometimes im so out of it (but still awake and listening) that i dont even hear the alarms though, which is pretty much what only one band can do to me and that is the one and only pink floyd! |

i think it was a really interesting idea to not use words because how many songs use the human voice simply as an instrument without trying to put words in. it's just as though she were a clarinet or something and made different noises. i heard this intense song once and didnt like it but it did the same thing. the singer had to make all these specific noises but no words and it was crazy like instruments which is waht the voice really is, an instrument. and also i love how there is practically only piano which is lovely and soft and comforting yet intense and meaningful at the same time. |

they got the speaking part from when they were recording at abbey road and they wrote up a whole bunch of questions and handed them out to people during the recording of dark side of the moon, including john lennon and yoko ono. they then took the answers and randomly inserted them throughout the album. john lennon and yoko ono's answers didnt get chosen for this. |
