i think i know what this line means now: The power of orange knickers under my petticoat. after having to buy petticoat for halloween.... but i think, the orange is her anger, and just strong feelings, that she's hiding under her petticoat. and petticoats are feminine, so she's appearing like she's not that angry about being cheated on, or she's trying to hide a lot of emotions, and hatred...and putting on this nice demeanor. that's how i felt when i was being cheated on =/ |

definitely about infidelity in my perspective! "power of orange knickers..." i'm pretty stumped on this. but imagine orange panties. they're bright. so maybe it's um, to make a statement about her femininity?? "the power of listening to what, you don't want me to know." either finding out the truth from him, or from other people about the "secrets" "Can somebody tell me now who is this terrorist those girls that smile kindly then rip your life to pieces." definitely about the other woman. ew! the other woman is the terrorist, who invades your life and destroys your relationship. but she smiles kindly, either thinking you don't know, or she's just smiling kindly to him. "Can somebody tell me now am I alone with this- this little pill in my hand and with this secret kiss am I alone in this..." this pill, um, addiction as someone first said? addiction of the relationship? of the other girl? secret kiss, not sure if it's referring to the other party's secret kiss.... "A matter of complication when you become a twist for their latest drink as they're transitioning" matter of complication, relationships always become super complicated after infidelity....twist, like a lie? twisted? transitioning, as in they're moving on together? definitely about their disbandment, though i like to intepret this as a fall out of a relationship "this time i need to know i really must be told if it's over it's up to you, you know the things you really want to hold are in pieces" after so long, it's hard to let go of the band, but it's a unanimous decision whether or not they break up.... "crashing down crashing down again crashing down crashing down my friends" fights, problems, friends = band members "i've got to move it on i've got to sing my song while i still can dispatch the last alarms and of the last few shards they're still surprising" enjoy their last album recording...concert, etc.... "only love only love can win crashing down crashing down again" the only thing holding them together is their love for music and each other...but everything else, too many fights and problem "and yet it haunts me so what are we letting go the spell is broken" they're so messed up as a band, it's difficult to see, but it's evident...that they're not the same, they are probably not enjoying the creation of music as much as they used to.... "for every chemical you trade a piece of your soul you know me time and who you think you know doesn't know you at all portrayed as needless" definitely about drugs, and how drugs alter people's behaviour and personality, they they don't even know eachother anymore "someday we'll wave hello and wish we'd never waved goodbye to this romance" definitely about a possibility of a reunion...because they all don't want to end it, but under the circumstances, they have to "to fall apart as the curtain falls we bid you all goodnight" saying goodbye to the fans =( on the other hand i really like to attribute this song to my ex, and maybe we'll get back together...who knows |

i think he messed up in the relationship, rather than being insecure...he probably treated her bad or cheated or something...obviously he's down now, and he wasn't there for her when she was so he doesn't deserve her. and he asks for another chance, it live by circumstance, once again, meaning they were probably in a relationship, he messed up the first chance....it's a remorseful song i think. he knows he doesn't deserve her...and he regrets his actions "who am I to need you when I'm down where are you when I need you around your life is not your own and all I ask you is for another chance another way around you to live by circumstance, once again" |

although i tend to like intepreting songs into love songs, and this song can definitely be interpreted in such a way, about a couple who have strong feelings for eachother, but always fight...but i'm pretty sure billy's intentions are about the reunion of smashing pumpkins so obviously the disbanded due to fights and a lot of problems, kind of like a relationship. now that they've reunited, they don't want to go back to the old path "I don’t want to fight Every single night Everything I want is in your eyes." and everything i want is in your eyes - meaning they all have the same goal? to create beautiful music =) "Don’t let me say this, but you’re no worse than me, It’s crazy." they're all similar, their break up was all their fault, no one particular to blame their friendship is so strong it's love, they want to be there for eachother, no matter what happens to the band...also the oath, their agreement to reunite...they don't want to disband again "Don’t break the oath I want to love you when you’re happy, Don’t break this oath I want to be there when you’re sad, Please bring the pouring rain." their other lyrics are kind of abstract to me...but this is the overall intepretation im getting from billy and the song |

it's people like niam's close-mindedness that erks me more than people who try to push religion onto others. i was a lil turned off by raven trying to get people to convert, however, the point made was valid. i just got out my bible to check, new king james version, whcih is even more similar. beth ripped it from the bible "raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever" im not kidding, those are the exact words from the bible!! but i don't really know what the song is about...i guess it may or may not have anything to do with the actual bible and beth just decided to rip the words off. but it's definitely about suffering, and a hellish place which, raven referred the blackness of darkness forever is hell. but it may not be the christian hell. |

i LOVE the first two lines. i agree with whoever said that she's trying to put behind her bitter past, but also learn to embrace it. and as cliched as it sounds, her past has made her how she is now. "where every step I took in faith betrayed me and led me from my home " and later she finds the guy, who loves her for who she is? but im kinda confused, is she still with that guy. or she just reminiscing about the past: I miss the little things oh I miss everything perhaps, yes she has found the "one" but she's still struggling to put down her past which she still misses. or something along the lines of that. |

interesting perspective ^ i never thought it was to do with ecstasy, although i am a fan of oceanlab and i have been in that state of mind...but just cause it's a trance song doesn't mean it's about ecstasy...and oceanlab tends to have some pretty relationship-related lyrics i never thought too deep and just always thought this was about the feeling of being in love...you're blinded from it so you can't sense danger, you're in the state of bliss when you're in love you live in a dream, it makes life easier, so you float through clouds. love is the best feeling, so it's the greatest state of being. and that would answer the i'll love you till the sky falls down bit. very sweet song, i would love to have a SO to sing this to, or have this song dedicated to me =p |

i think this song is slightly anti-bush, but yeh, like people said, basically the modern state of america, which isn't under the control of any single entity really. well secondly, whoever said "if you don't like america, get the fuck out." that's nonsensial. i mean, if i were american, america is my homeland, why the FUCK should *i* leave because other people are screwing it up for me? then nothing would improve because people would either suck it up or abandon it. iraq was a preemptive war. it's not a just war according to philosophical and ethical principals. if its aim was to remove a tyrannical dictator, then USA has a lot more wars to go through, it's not up to the USA to decide to remove another leader from power in its country. and once again, 911 has nothing to do with iraq period. |
