Coolio – Gangsta's Paradise Lyrics

This song is just amazing. It gives an insight into the gangsta's life from the point of view of a veteran gangbanger. it questions the basic beliefs of the lifestyle-guns,money and loyalty. The first line comes from Psalm 23 and is often given at Christian funerals. The next line should be "I shall fear no evil,for thou art with me" But one of the most insightful things about the song is how he omits this line,as the song ponders the future of this gangsta,who is finally wising up. Its like a spiritual journey told by a thug. Truly magnificent. Much more than just a song on a film. Coolio may be forgotten but we can never let this song be forgotten. It's up there with Smells like Teen Spirit and Redemption Song.
