why the fuck does every song on this site have dumbasses posting shit about them relating to suicide. this song has nothing to do with suicide. its about living in a controlled envrionment and not knowing who you really are. there are a lot of metaphors in this song, like in many billy talent songs. watch and read some interviews to know what im talking about. |

This song seems to link towards the Hollocaust... at least to me...
"You'll never make me leave
I wear this on my sleeve
Give me a reason to believe"
In a Jew's point of view; that the nazis could never take them away from their homes and families. They wore their Star of David patches on their sleeves to signify their religion which would eventually leap to dehumanization. Belief and hope were incredible aspects during this time. This particular Jew felt that all hope was lost and was either getting deported or never leaving a concentration camp.
"Preach all you want but who's gonna save me?"
Jews would pray every day and hope that someone or something would save them.
"So give me all your poison
And give me all your pills
And give me all your hopeless hearts
And make me ill"
The Jew wanting to die already believing that he/she is going to die anyway. The hopeless hearts refers to other hopeless Jews.
"You're running after something
That you'll never kill
If this is what you want
Then fire at will"
The nazis continuously made attempts to dehumanize the Jews. They were attempting things that would never kill the spirits of millions. Later, it explains that is the nazis really want to kill inosence then they may as well get it over with.
"Black is the kiss, the touch of the serpeant son
It ain't the mark or the scar that makes you run"
The feelings that Jews received were nothing more than dull misfortunes that caused several attempted escpaings and deaths. It wasn't the wounds that made the Jews want to escape but the depressing feeling of their miserable lives. |

Steals some Aerosmith...
It's dedicated to the grandmother. Not about the grandmother, to me anyways. When meeting them, Gerard explained that he based the song around a suicide of a grade 8 student in his hometown.
The girl was situated in a suicide pact with 2 other girls but they ended up not killing themselves. The one girl that did hung herself.
The rest is a secret. |

Also... I think they were listening to that Along Comes Mary song... the "sweet as the punch" song... you know. The lyric pattern is VERY similar including the fast spoken verses. |

Pieces... it's not said in the song... who cares?
He's putting together pieces of himself. |

Apparently this song is about how innocent people are blamed for others' actions. I don't know how the hell the end deals with this but I like the change in tempo and style. |

Even though it's in a different key, reminds me of Iris, if anyone remembers that song. |

Yes it does matter... There's a reason why songs are written yet you can interpret them differently. I like your interpretation. The real meaning is based on Bush and is pretty easy to pick out; "False conversation, hidden agenda." |

Ian: "Ben wrote the lyrics after one of our friends was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis but the song entirely is not about him. As a band, we picked up stories of people with other diseases and based the song around disease and mental illness and how it affects them. Our band actually also met up with a homeless person when we were heading to the studio so we incorporated him into it as well but idealy it's meant to portray the life of people with illness."
There you are people. |

This song in Deryck's words means "frustration with how others will never leave you alone."
Also, the lryics aren't 100% there.
It's "Welcome to obsession"
"We live and die for shit we don't need"
"We don't already know" |

And to go more in depth... it's actually about Bill's old encounter with an old friend who had become a prostitue. He would visit the same location every day to see if she was still there and of course she was. He hid himself though, until one day (read verse). The hooker was never there anymore after Bill had talked with her.
I read this in a magazine.
Also, anyone know where I can get the music video for this? I want to see it again... all I can remember is that they were in a forest or something playing the song. |

Although it's on a different scale, the intro is done just like Wonerwall. And the chorus is almost identical to Handle This. |

Aside from the rip-off, it's about how we'll all be punished at "the bitter end" because of whatever reasons.
Also, I swear that second solo is done by a machine... just listen to it. And I've never heard or seen them play this song live. Probably because Dave can't really play it. |

"If you believe it's in my soul
I'd say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I'm better off on my own"
If you believe perfection is inside of me, I'd say everything to make you understand that I've realized I am fake and am better off on my own." |
