There is another version of this - the radio edit misses out the verse beginning "read all about it," and amongst other slight edits (lyrics remain mainly accurate) on the radio edit the last part goes: ah yeah - girl you've got - yeah i love ya - yeah i love you something i - like - yeah i love you i love you and i'm sitting ah yeah - girl you've got - at home, sitting on the bus - all i ever do is think about us something i - like - on and on i said - yeah ah yeah - girl you've got something i - like yes that's my special formatting for when the lyric has two parts. In the version I transcribed from, there's a high "yeah i love ya" for the 3rd and 4th "ah yeah....like" Oh, I think it's about picking up a girl he's seen around who he's well into, instant attraction, he's pleased to discover she's into him too, enough to be "going down" lol. not sure about "hard to beat," and part of it sounds like he's imagining what it would be like, but i didn't write it, yknow!... |

Well this song has so much energy I reckon it can be read into in lots of different ways, that's part of the beauty I reckon, but anyway. Loads of people have said it, but for reference, especialy that anill42, this is precisely what was written in the booklet for the album next to the lyrics for this song: Tom: "A friend of ours told us a story of when he was young, and got asked to go to the prettiest girl in high schools house. He rode his bike as fast as he could to get there, and she and her friend jumped out of the balcony and sprayed him with a hose. He rode home wet, sad and humiliated." And that makes sense. But it could so totally have more meanings. Music generally does, doesn't it? |

Umm I'm generally going with the 'he really wants Holly' theme. Partially because the song seems to recreate the feelings (for me) when you've realised that you're pining after something you can't have, like it's drowning you. But anyways I don't get it, so here's the story as far as I interpret it; Possibly, in the same way 'Josie' was the perfect girlfriend, maybe 'Holly' is the girl you'll never have, and she knows you want her and she plays with you, but you know she doesn't want you - hence the 'use me, Holly, come on...' Part of the argument for this is that in the booklet thingy in the CD, the story of Holly goes: Tom: "A friend of ours told us a story of when he was young, and got asked to go to the prettiest girl in high schools house. He rode his bike as fast as he could to get there, and she and her friend jumped out of the balcony and sprayed him with a hose. He rode home wet, sad and humiliated." As such, personally, I reckon Holly is THAT girl. Yeah, you know the one, but she's grown up now, and you're drowning in your feelings for her. Or maybe not... |

| Blink-182 – Story of a Lonely Guy Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Yeh this song is to/for any kind of loserkid, girl or boi really, it just kind of touches quite a few of us 'cause it's so finely captured. Personally it kinda helps with the kinda heartbreak you go through when you're just an official loser sometimes, and worse still, you know it. At some point there'll come a time when you just *get* every line in the song, speshly 4 me ; #i need a drink, cus in a while - worthless answers from friends of mine... | |

| N.E.R.D. – Jump (feat. Joel & Benji Madden) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Benji and Joel had true problems with their dad, so I reckon maybe this song's about being in a state of mind where you're sick of the sit you're in and you just gotta get out, so you do. But I reckon these guys were under some kind of influence when they wrote half thsi stuff anyway. | |
| N.E.R.D. – Thrasher Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song is great when I'm frustrated. Like when someone's patronising you, obviously looking for a fight, trying to treat you like you're unequal when they're the one with the problem, and you just gotta beat 'em down (verbally or otherwise) and that's what I reckon this song's about. | |
| N.E.R.D. – She Wants To Move Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song is so Hot, like sexual and all that, mmm... So yeh it seems like there's this hot girl and her boyfriend, and, understandably he's trying to reign her in and keep her all for himself. Maybe it's not that they're out and she wants to literally dance, but like the guy she's with is holding her back and restricting her form being herself, and she's grabbing onto every little bit of freedom she can, even dancing to a song in a club. Or maybe they're not that deep and Pharrell wants to have a stand with some other guy's girl. | |
| Ash – Girl From Mars Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Really dint think this song was anything special until about the third time I heard it.. neways, I thought it was about a nice kind of summer fling, the kind you have when you're fresh and shy and young, where you're into someone for all the right reasons. That girl must have been well special, it's a lovely song, mainly cus while he's 'reminiscing' (ideal word), he's not sitting around bein sad or anything, he's remembering the fun they had. | |
