It Dies Today – The Caitiff Choir: Defeatism Lyrics 19 years ago
It has a suicidal ring to it, basically saying that what he's done in his past means nothing and to move on would make more sense if he could just end it all.

I am getting a Christian vibe from this song, however.
"Nothing could ever compensate for what I've done for you" - Nothing can equal up to what he's given up and feels that God has failed him
"Apparitions led me astray into the bowels of perdition." - The demons and ghosts of his past, being the mistakes, leading him into an eternity of punishment.
"But I'd give anything to change these memories back to reality and return us to the light." - No matter how much he fails God has failed him, he will always go back to him and know that he is the true one.

deathcloud, I know where your coming from on moral disintegration, but in a lot of people's minds, losing God is a sign of moral corruption. I guess it varies.

That's all. And also can someone tell me what the hell dolent is? Thanks.

It Dies Today – My Promise Lyrics 19 years ago
If I want to get all emo about this song (as heavy as it is) here it is.

This song is about being dumped for somebody else and you're just so torn up about the idea of someone you love being with somebody else that you would rather see them both dead. Taking their lives because of your misery and being happy of the fact that you did.

It Dies Today – A Threnody For Modern Romance Lyrics 19 years ago
It's about lashing out to someone who doesn't truly love you but they keep you around because they view you as their little toy and you're, for lack of better words, fucking sick of it. It's about breaking the safety fall-back net and announcing your freedom from manipulative mind games.

That's my one view, my other...

It's about people holding onto what has happened to them in their past and have been so broken by love that they will let it affect the rest of their lives. They will let it destroy them forever and they won't want to fall back in love again.

Okay yeah, that's all.

Atreyu – Her Portrait In Black Lyrics 20 years ago
I was going to say, I was reading the original lyrics and I was just wondering what the hell? Has Alex gotten weak on us on lyrics?

And by the way, that is still Alex screaming, he's just destroyed his voice over the past 8 years. Trust me, I've been a screamer in bands for 5 years now and my voice is getting more and more hoarse, but I somehow find different things to do with it. If you want proof that it's Alex, listening to the band Scars of Tomorrow, and listen to the song "The Hidden Grudge" (Alex Varkatzas guests on that in the chorus, you'll recognize it) And that's still Brandon singing, they take him away they lose a band (or Alex for that case).

Fall Out Boy – Sugar, We're Goin Down Lyrics 20 years ago
I sware to fucking God you stupid fucks it's "loaded god complex" and I know it is because I hung out with the band after Warped Tour (and by the way they're a bunch of douchebags)

Secondly, the song meaning which none of you have even answered, this song is about being gay. Yes, sorry ladies, Patrick is gay. I went to their aftershow and Patrick admitted about all the pretty guys in our city. Yeah...

So in conclusion, it's about Patrick being gay. The a "loaded god complex" should answer it all (men can't procreate) there ya go, now go indulge in your teenage emo tendencies and listen to more of them, oh and emo kids! While you're at it, cut your wrists to Hawthorne Heights and cry over Good Charlotte, and if any of you even so much as mention Green Day, oh I swear...that will leave for another day, yeah... later...

Nightwish – Dark Chest Of Wonders Lyrics 20 years ago
It's interesting, the Peter Pan bit, and I understand where you're getting that from. But there are other parts that take that idea out.

The one thing about Tuomas, he loves to write about how innocence is what's going to save the world. The reference to children is how he portrays innocence.

"All the burdens gone, open the chest once more." - How when you are a child, you don't understand what kind of evil the world has, and you're just completely care free and you have love for everything.

It's missing those times that kill us all.

Alexisonfire – Sharks And Danger Lyrics 21 years ago
It's really interesting I heard this song when I did, considering I've had this CD for almost a year now. But it describes things perfectly.

As said before, "Who will keep me from lashing out? Anxiety chokes me like razor wire." - This is the perfect explanation, that it's true only one person in my life can calm me down and I feel like everyone else is after me after I have a panic attack, going off on everyone around me.

"I kinda have this really terrible habit of asking myself all these stupid questions" - There are just random questions of subtle little fears that go through your head that are completely irrational but you keep asking yourself over and over and in time you start to believe it so much that you see it as the truth.

"I really get the feeling that, I'm starting to lose interest in the letter writing process" - This part has such an obscure meaning to the song, but it's really interesting to me that it's in there. It relates to me more than any other part of the song.

I can understand where people are getting the depression bit, but if it was that it would probably be a suicidal hotline rather than a pyschiatric hospital, and anxiety doesn't always cause you to go into those phases, it's straightforward about anxiety and someone's situation with it. It really can destroy you, it's amazing how Alexisonfire portrays it.

Breathing Room – In My Defeat Lyrics 21 years ago
Hey everyone, this is my band Breathing Room, and I am the writer of the lyrics.

This song is about this girl that got me through a lot in my past and I ended up realizing in the end that everything we had was shit. I came to the realization that God was there for me every step of the way and that strength in my soul pulled me through.

Breathing Room – Brokensound Lyrics 21 years ago
Hey everyone, this is my band Breathing Room, and I wrote the lyrics.

The song is about this girl that I fell head over heels for right before she had to be sent away to boarding school. She's had problems in the past and since I can't be there to help her anymore, this is a song about giving her hope and to keep her head up, no matter of the situation at hand while at the same time declaring my love for her.

Couple of things for you sXe kids.

1) Can't you do something better with your life than fucking victimize every non-one of you, get a fucking life.

2) Daryl isn't sXe, sorry kids. When I met them at Warped Tour he was smoking cigarettes, sorry.

3) I'm not sXe and Glassjaw is still one of my favorite bands.

Glassjaw – Babe Lyrics 21 years ago
My favorite line is right at the end.

"And what I'll do is mess you up and lie to you, look at you, you know it's true, it's a field trip to Hollywood Babylon and we're not coming."

This basically says that Daryl will get revenge on this bitch who has fucked him up and she knew what was coming. Also, the reference to Hollywood Babylon is a metaphor for a high level star life being gone put to shit (as people may know about the destruction of Babylon in the Bible) This song is fucking insane.

RIP Glassjaw.

Thursday – Standing On The Edge Of Summer Lyrics 21 years ago
This song has absolutely changed my life. The quote;

"In this house of cards, we're all holding hearts & spades (one step, one breath, could knock it all down)."

The most powerful quote I have ever heard, this song has gotten me through more than I could ever say on this.

Thrice – Paper Tigers Lyrics 21 years ago
It is about 9/11, "we paid for the crimes with our blood." A very cruel and unjust way to pay, they destroyed our country as we all died, as well as our country. "Perfect porcelain skyline." The fact it was a clear and beautiful day when the planes crashed. And the title "Paper Tigers" fits. In response to what vanityisnotacrime said, it's not about our military, but fits Osama. Attacking us and being a dangerous figure but he did not realize the fact that we would retaliate, which makes him weak as a leader.

Our band covers this at shows, and it's fun as hell to do. Powerful as all hell.
