This song is one of the more positive songs out there right now. Too much we hear about "hatin" on people, jealousy doesn't do much for people just make them miserable. Life is what you make of it. You can't blame people for your inability to do better in life. Too many we look at what we don't have and not what we do have. Appreciation and Gratitude have been so underrated. If you live in your past, that's what you'll get. Look forward to a future because you can change that.
The meaning of this song to me is not to let the negative get in the way of your dreams. No one can change who you are except you. You make the choices to do that. Media has a huge unfluence on people. I love the last few lyrics of the song, because I see exactly that in the society we live in.
Where you from, who you know, what you make and what kind of car you in.
Seems as though you lost sight of whats important with the positive.

i'll miss the old ataris too but i can relate to the way they have evolved. in a sense i feel like i've grown with them and i can put myself in this situation. being 21 and falling in love for the first time, then getting older and it just not being the same, where one person grows and the other doesn't. i love this song. i can't wait to hear the rest of the album. |

my best friend sang this to me on my pager back in 2000 for my 21st birthday party. he DJ'd that night and well that night he and we got a whole lot closer. he ended up being my boyfriend for 3 1/2 years. i totally fell for him. it was really cute. words of advice, never date your best friend at a young age. cuz when it doens't work out it sucks hard. |

i love this song so much, but it gets me sad everytime i hear it. The first time i heard this song was with my boyfriend at the time, who was before that my best friend prior. He and I were at the HOB anaheim watching the ataris who opened for NoFx, back in 2001 it was a great show. when kris sang the song it was like he was talking about us, everything that was in the lyrics was what we had expereiced from the best friend, to saving all the show tickets we'd been to, the valentine, the day we woke up in each others arms, to watching the sun go down. my ex surprised me and bought the cd for me. we marked it as our song. so when we broke up it sucked because we loved the ataris so much when ever we heard them it brought back the memory. I once wrote a letter to the ataris telling them signifacance of this song. so in 2002 at the HOB in anaheim kris said that this song goes out to marina. that'd be me. needless to say this song is as simple but as beautiful as the relationship was. |
