| Led Zeppelin – Friends Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
by Joel on 10-24-2005 @ 03:06:05 AM the big line here ' you got love you aint lonely'- if you practice love you wont be lonely. brilliant. y'know, i'm not quite sure that's exactly it... when i see that line, i think like this: someone's telling him, look, you've got love, you're not lonely, don't throw that away. and he did. now? he's lookin for what he knew, or had. and i agree w/ most of the other comments here..good song |

| The Doors – Touch Me Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
ok, first off, i think this song's pretty sweet one thing about the lyrics: when i first heard it, i thought it was "till the heavens start to rain," as in, until the end of all time...still kinda think it makes more sense and AntBMSU, the Doors were much more than average |

| Cream – Tales Of Brave Ulysses Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| yes, definitely the Odyssey..I'm amazed that this song is only 2:46...when I hear it, it feels like it should be longer, more epic..or somethin..I dunno | |
| Cream – N.S.U. Lyrics | 20 years ago |

| Bruce Springsteen – Born to Run Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
I agree with what was said by most about trying to get away from where u are with the peson u love, and also liked to read the bits about the real life references like the palace there were a couple things i was surprised not to see in comments, tho i coulda just overlooked them: firstly, a lot of it seems to be references to street racing...chrome wheeled, fuel injected, screaming down the boulevards..something that really stuck out secondly, the lines "Just wrap your legs round these velvet rims and strap your hands across my engines"..."want to know if love is wild, girl I want to know if love is real" um...sexual innuendo anyone? |

| Led Zeppelin – Over the Hills and Far Away Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
ok, i just read through the 3 pages of posts, and don't feel as though enough's been said. a lot of it was bickering, and not really worth reading. so here you go, the ZepHead's explaination. A little sappy, a little serious, a little lighthearted. This song is about Love and Life, and more. The first part is about finding that girl you just can't stop thinking about. When you think about her, your thoughts just drift away. "Over the hills and far away," so to speak. The words and sound of this part just make you think of being with that girl, on a beautiful day, not a care in the world. To relate to another Zep song, Achilles Last Stand: "Oh to sail away, to sandy lands and other days. Oh to touch the dream, hides inside is never seen." This is a common theme of escaping our mundane lives. Before the next two lines, the sound changes, and it's not all fluffy anymore. The lines talk about broken relationships, and when the cycle of "tears of loves lost in the days gone by" (if you've heard Thank You, which is incredible) will end. Roads are an archetype in many forms of art for wonder, the unknown, and journeys(often through life). After wondering about Love, the next logical progression of though would be Life in general. As someone said, there's a lot of stuff that we don't understand. "Many" things we don't know. Many people don't even stop to think about life; they just keep on trucking through this life we live. And when you try to comprehend "many," it "only leaves you guessing." "Guessing about a thing." What are we doing? Where are we going? Why can't I stop thinking about her? Now that's my main interpretation, but there's a couple more things: "Many dreams come true and some have silver linings I live for my dream and a pocketful of gold." Ok, firstly, yeah, that gold's pot. I think the live versions pretty much nail that down. That doesn't mean the whole song's about drugs though. Secondly, these two lines together basically mean, "ya know, I can't make much out of this life thing, but i do know that some dreams do come true. That's worth livin' for." and the gold is something that this particular person needs to keep going. Maybe even to help him go "over the hills and far away" for a little while. As for Tolkien's poem, yes, there is a poem called "Over Old Hills and Far Away," but i just looked it up, and am pretty sure it isn't about Aragorn/Arwen. I'm pretty sure it's name is what Zep took, unless it's a coincidence and they didn't even notice the connection. Bear in mind, multiple Zep songs had titles that didn't appear in the lyrics, or sometimes weren't related at all (e.g. Black Dog). And Anti-lotr people need to chill; just because someone mentions a connection doesn't mean the whole song's about lotr, and doesn't mean the person that made the connection is a fanboy jumping all over everything. Note to lotr fans: *don't* start looking for connections in every song, because that *is* kinda stupid/annoying, and if anything, you shouldn't do it b/c it makes the ppl that hate you right. I think that about sums it up. Please tell me what u think of my interpretation, praise or rage. |

| Aerosmith – Dream On Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This song is about life and time. Read the play "Our Town." I'm serious. Go read it. It takes less than a day. Nothing in life is guaranteed. There's no promise you will be here tomorrow. "Sing with me..." is about making the special moments count. Remember them. "All these lines..." Means that Time doesn't stop. One day you will turn around, and you will be old. Dream on. Dream until your Dream comes true. |

| Aerosmith – Big Ten Inch Record Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
Ha ha...this song's great..definite innuendo, and pulled off well, the way "record" is added in there. i'm sure you can analyze it w/ or w/o the sex. and the backing jazz band or w/e they have goin is really good..i'd love to get some friends to play this song and i agree, it does sound like "suck on my big ten inch..." i wonder which word he thought about when he sang it? |

| Aerosmith – Livin' On The Edge Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"If you can judge a wise man By the color of his skin Then mister, you're a better man than I" is a direct quote from "You're a Better Man Than I" by the Yardbirds. Both are good songs. |

| Led Zeppelin – Dancing Days Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| hey, guess what! it's spring! know what that means? it won't be long before "dancing days are here again" :; :D :P | |
| Led Zeppelin – Sick Again Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
yeah...definetly about the young female fans... anyone seen almost famous? i'm pretty sure that was supposed to mirror some/a lot of zeppelin off stage... the line "you say you dug me since you were 13" is kinda like the band-aid vs. groupie thing...how long they've actually liked the band, or are just jumping on the bandwagon... |
|
| Led Zeppelin – Bron-Y-Aur Stomp Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
this song is so freakin sweet...when i listen to the live version, i can just picture the band playin it on stage, and SMILING... such a happenin' song... about the 'OLD SHEP': i read somewhere that Plant at one point in time also got a german shepherd, but Strider wasn't too happy with the divided attention. this line is reassuring strider that he can't be replaced. |

| Led Zeppelin – Ten Years Gone Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| 6-27-1977 plant called it "a proper love song" | |
| Led Zeppelin – Thank You Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this song is awesome in the true sense of the word. i hear it and my heart melts. the way plant just sings the first two lines is simply yet full of power. i think this song is too often overlooked. | |
| The Rolling Stones – Sympathy for the Devil Lyrics | 21 years ago |

boomerstyle wrote: ------------------------------ I heard this song was inspired by "Young Goodman Brown" by Nathaniel Hawthorne ------------------------------ woah, i was just about to post something about that. when we read that story in english class, i thought of this song. my teacher let me print out a copies of the lyrics and bring in the song for everyone to listen to. an excellent short story, everyone should read it. i also liked josephwolf's Usual Suspects reference... |

| Led Zeppelin – When the Levee Breaks Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i meant to add...i also like Drix793's interpretation... on the side, i think that the innuendo's make sense, but then again, if you find a sick enough person they can relate anything to sex... |
|
| Led Zeppelin – When the Levee Breaks Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I was surprised to see someone else notice the Grapes of Wrath thing... I just finished it a week ago and thought about this song. Don't know if the song was based on that though, cause it sounds like there's more evidence towards the Mississippi stuff... | |
| Led Zeppelin – Darlene Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| ha ha..i just noticed that line while listening to it, so i thought i'd come to check it out. interesting stuff, thanks jumpy jack. | |
| Led Zeppelin – Achilles Last Stand Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| well, jeez, not much more to be said. i agree that "Epic" is a very good word for this song. "what Zeppelin's all about" is exactly what this song made me think of when finally got Presence this Christmas. then i watched this song on the DVD for the first time in a while, and it only confirmed my thoughts. | |
| Led Zeppelin – Hots on for Nowhere Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| elbazimo's right...silence can be very powerful when used correctly. i think this song is really great, and agree that is one of the best on Presence. i like the "na na" stuff, or "la la", or whatever it is. catchy :) | |
| Led Zeppelin – The Crunge Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
despite what others have posted, i really like this song. I just noticed that they go into the instrumental parts of it during Dazed and Confused on How the West Was won. And i like the bridge thing at the end. |
|
| Led Zeppelin – Four Sticks Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| yeah petox, there's some history btw Zep and The Who's drummer, Keith Moon. Led Zeppelin's name was going to be "The New Yardbirds", but when Keith told Page their careers would crash "like a lead zeppelin", they changed it to spite him. the "a" was taken out so ppl wouldn't think it was "lead" as in "lead singer" | |
| Led Zeppelin – Roll Over Beethoven (Chuck Berry cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| though looking at these lyrics, they're probably different, it's still obviously from the Beatles one. | |
| Led Zeppelin – Roll Over Beethoven (Chuck Berry cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| dude, this is a john lennon song. listen to the Beatles live at the BBC. just cause Zep covered it at a concert doesn't mean you should put it's lyrics up... | |
| The Yardbirds – Train Kept A Rollin' Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
wow, not many people post at the yardbirds, huh? well, i like this song. got a kinda catchy tune. i think more people should listen to this group, especially seeing how popular Led Zeppelin is... |
|
| Led Zeppelin – Train Kept a Rollin' (Tiny Bradshaw cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this song is actually by THE YARDBIRDS (Page's old band), not Zeppelin, and probably should be removed from the Zep list. | |
| Led Zeppelin – Kashmir Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
this song is awesome, but it doesnt beat stairway...it lacks the wide variation from stairway...as to the question of travel, at their 2-12-75 concert in Madison Square Garden, Robert Plant says it "takes the vibe of travel and experience and flashes on environment" to people wondering about the title and lack of use of it in lyrics, i say there's nothing wrong with that. not uncommon. just look at Over the Hills and Far Away, Black Dog, Four Sticks, The Crunge, and D'Yer Mak'er to name a few....they don't even have it once. |
|
| Led Zeppelin – Dancing Days Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
yay! my first post! anyway... Yeah, Artsy's right about what Plant said...from How the West was Won... still not sure about the Lion--Tadpole in a Jar thing...think it's awesome though, just cause...well, it sounds random... Crazy idea i had though: We know that there are plenty of LotR references in Zeppelin, but what about Narnia? the "lion" couldn't be Aslan, could it? |
