i love this song so much! it means many things to me, but mainly it represents a time when i first got toegther with my boyfriend, who introduced APC to me. This was our "song" for a while and so, on a totally personal level, "pull me in to your perfect circle" represents making deep intimate love. i do like the story of Orestes and obviously that was inspiration for the song, but i also really like the take that ghostbox has on it. Thats a really refreshing and insightful way to see it. I wonder, though, since apparently tool is releasing a new album this year, whether he would have has to reconnect with past demons to produce the tool quality?? |

just say you meet someone, and you get to know them, or you think you do. just say this person is giving, and clever, and friendly, and everyone thinks so and loves them and they're just the BEST! but something in their eyes tells another story, one of hurt and rejection. and so you decide to test this apparent empathy, to test how deep these waters flow. to find out if they actually do see you, or if you're just a part of a world they've created to surround themselves with to trample the hurt, and pain. suppose they don't actually mean well, and their motivations are purely selfish. a way to be someone they're not, by portraying an image they want the world to beleive, as a way of never getting close to anyone. suppose they fail this test, and you're left in the knowledge that nothing lies behind the eyes of a fallen angel. that they don't see you at all... |

when i first heard this song i also thought that it really represented God and Jesus and a great raw honest insight into religion and spirituality. I have since read comments by Adam D on the KSE UK fan site saying that it was written about a friend of their's mother who had died and who they were all very close to. Despite this, the feeling I get when listening to this song will always be spiritual for me, and I think thats how music should be. I think that even if the person who wrote the song had specific motivation behind it, music is there for the masses and if you reconcile the lyrics and music to something relevent and meaningful in your life then thats just fine too. Its the passion that really means something, the emotion behind the words that really gets you... I love KSE and I don't even listen to metal. They really really rock and I'm going to see them at the London Astoria on 23rd Jan! Cool! |
