I thinks songs will have a different meaning to everyone and for me this is what is: A guy lets a girl in, falls for her and she uses him as a counselor or savior of sorts. She never loves him, but only uses him. He is there for her, helps her with her demons but she never loves him. She's one of those many many many many girls/guys that act innocent and play the victim to get attention and love and use people. Now, its kinda like she's come back in his life, possible in the form of asking him forgiveness for what she did. Bury all your secrets in my skin [She confides in him] Come away with innocence, and leave me with my sins [Her demons are now part of his worry and his world, apart from his own. He is a "broken" person too.] The air around me still feels like a cage [Now, the present, he still feels trapped by his demons and he's a worse person, because of what she did to him] And love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again� [he used to deeply love her, but deep down he hates her for how she used him] So if you love me, let me go. And run away before I know. [Now she seems to regret what she did and finds that she loves him, but he doesn't want to know she loves him. He's afraid she'll hurt him again.] My heart is just too dark to care. I can�t destroy what isn�t there. [He's closed himself off from feeling for anyone ever again, and if he doesn't feel, he doesn't go through the pain of "destroying" that love, or losing that person.] Deliver me into my Fate - If I�m alone I cannot hate [its kinda like "lets face it, this ended long ago, i loved u more than I think I can love anyone else, so I'm gonna be alone so I won't get this hurt again or get used again and hate another girl".] I don�t deserve to have you� [He still has this poor self image that she's STILL too good for him] My smile was taken long ago / If I can change I hope I never know [Now he's a sad and lonely person and thinking he may be different later may mean he's fallen for someone new and he rather not think of that because it means he's opening himself up to be hurt again.] I still press your letters to my lips [He still longs for what he couldn't have completely, her.] And cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss ["Parts" of him still love her and miss her.] I couldn�t face a life without your light [She was a reason to live, his everything, so now he's pretty much dead since he doesn't let himself feel.] But all of that was ripped apart� when you refused to fight [She gave into her demons and gave up on him too. She didn't think he was worth the effort, and that's another reason why he "hates" her.] So save your breath, I will not hear. I think I made it very clear. [Self-explanatory] You couldn�t hate enough to love. Is that supposed to be enough? [She had to hate her demons to get over them but she didn't think it was worth it to fight. In not doing so, she didn't love him enough.] I only wish you weren�t my friend. Then I could hurt you in the end. [Bottom line, he cared for her, and knows who she is well and he could never hurt her like she did, so he can not seek revenge and hurt her like she hurt him.] I never claimed to be a Saint� [self-explanatory] My own was banished long ago / It took the Death of Hope to let you go ["He" died when she used him and consequently hurt him in the past, and he put all his hopes of a true love and happily life with her... and that died when she hurt him.] So Break Yourself Against My Stones [Like waves crashing against rocks, completely covered by water... its kinda like he's saying "feel me completely, see how you have hurt me and see the man you turned me into.] And Spit Your Pity In My Soul [kinda like saying "Yeah... go ahead, feel sorry for me now... that its too late for you to show selflessness"] You Never Needed Any Help [Her "innocence" and the conquering of her demons could of been done with his involvement, she just needed to find the strength within herself, without her dragging him down with her.] You Sold Me Out To Save Yourself [She used him and walked away, while he gave his all to her and received nothing in return] And I Won�t Listen To Your Shame [Now she's apologizing, but he won't hear it, he's angry] You Ran Away - You�re All The Same [She left him alone, and says pretty much means to say "women are all the same"] Angels Lie To Keep Control� ["You lied to keep me there as your pet, your puppet, when you actually didn't love me"] My Love Was Punished Long Ago ["I loved you and you hurt me" thus he got "punished" for his sacrificing. If You Still Care, Don�t Ever Let Me Know ["If you have feelings for me, I don't want to know, i don;t want to get excited and give you a second chance just so you can hurt me again."] If you still care, don�t ever let me know� |
