i have a different interpretation from most of you. i don't disagree with any of you, but i just didn't see it as a political song right away. i was thinking it had to do with a girl who has been sexually frustrated. instead of trying to help herself emotionally, she continues to bone many many guys. which is fucked up. People get crushed like biscuit crumbs And laid down in the bed you made You have tried your best to please everyone But it just isn't happening. she is now making every guy she encounters feel bad because they sense the odd frustration in her in her bed. when he says it's the blind spot, i think he's saying that she's actually very vulnerable. when thom says you cannot kickstart a deadhorse, i was thinking he's talking about her sexual satisfaction she gets, or lack thereof. and then she just walks away, more frustrated and more depressed. and thom assures her that he is here and that she can touch him. he's her "black swan". now that she has met him, she can no longer be sexually frustrated. but at the same time, thom feels guilty about it. cuz he's essentially using her for his own sexual satisfaction. making the whole thing really, fucked up. i'm not saying thom is like this, i dont know the guy, it probably isn't even about him. cuz from what i've heard in his interviews, he hates writing songs that are about himself and he realized that after pablo honey. |

totally agree with division st. i absolutly love the demo version. i can't understand why they would take out that entire first verse! instead they replaced it with a boring guitar riff that drags on for about a minute. and the acousitc in the album version is really boring, they should't have taken out the ripping guitar riff from the first verse in this song. I live with a girl whos been waiting seven months now til they bring home her baby This war was paying for school. They shipped him over now he scatters on the frontlines He swore he would follow his conscience. But done the wrong way follows his orders instead When he shoots, he sings this song. But he doesnt know that she's been singing it too it's unfortunate, and the drum during this part, kind of sound like gun shots going off, giving it a war feeling. it's unfortunate they over-produced this song to its balls. |

wtf dude. justmegger says... probably one of the best songs for patricks voice.. i mean his voice is amazing on this cover..i havent heard the joy divsion one, but i think that this one shows the emotion of the words so you have't heard the original, yet you are comparing how patrick shows his emotion in the words, opposed to how Ian Curtis shows his emotion in the words. Ian being the original song writer from the amazing band Joy Division, i think shows his emotions, not Patrick who does not own the words to this song. sorry justmegger, but that aggravated me. go listen to the original and you will clearly hear the emotion in Ian Curtis, i promise. oh yeah, and to all you other fruitcakes, Fall Out Boy is a good pop-punk band, but they are definatley not worthy of creating an attempt to cover a classic song by an amazing band. and to think that hearing the original will ruin the song???!!! are you crazy??? you can't say that about listening to covers. Hearing the original should only make you appreciate the song more. whateva. |

| this song reminds me of my grandma, it's so sad. my grandma's story is a bit different though, her daughter died, (which was my mom). but when i listen to the words it's like, what i'm hearing is that htis lady has three girls, and they are growing up and she is starting the next process of her life, she's starting to age. she has no husband, whereever he may be we don't know. and yeah tehre are some thoughts of suicide, whcih is typical among older people. not to be sexist, but women to decorate a lot, and i imagine that this lady now living in an empty house w/ all her three daughters out of the house, she decorates to hide her emptiness. she's lonley. | |

| to me it sounds like in the beginning he's talking about suicide. "everything will soon turn black, so here's my letter." then it seems like he has changed his mind, and he is now willing to admit his depresssion and his willing to live with it. but a lot of it seems like a big suicide note, "give my love to mother, please tell her not to worry". nikola is a strong man though, i dont think he'll kill himself, he's smart and aware of himself.
