I think it's about a guy who takes an interest in a girl until it escalates to the point of infatuation, and an infatuation that grows until he feels like he can't control his urges... hence the sexually violent undertones. It doesn't seem like it's about rape though because the girl is doing her own bit with brushes of the hand and whatnot.
This song was fucking delightful in The Number 23, it made the scene, maybe even the movie. |

Elliott Smith fucking rocks, but I have to admit when I first heard this song it wasn't one of my favourites... until I watched "the Royal Tenembaums". Man, it totally made the song for me, now I love it. The scene is just awesome, it has so much feeling to it, and the song accompanies it perfectly. I just wish Elliott was still around to create more of what nobody else can. |

my interpretation of it is that it's portraying the triumph of good over evil in his head. he's accepted his introversion and is now content with his own company whereas before he felt he had to act up to everyone's expectations and entertain them i.e be "the clown". |
