Frou Frou – Let Go Lyrics 21 years ago
this song randomly recalls a line from simon & garfunkel's "i am a rock" to my mind: "if i never loved, i never would have cried." i suppose that the beauty of the breakdown is the fact that there was ever anything that could have been broken down. without the bad, we could never recognize the good, and that's what i think this song is trying to get at. just like art and paul were...

Cary Brothers – Blue Eyes Lyrics 21 years ago
i absolutely ADORE this song... even though it drives my belief that no one loves brown eyes... i mean, think about how different the song would be if they'd sung it for "Brown Eyes..." it just wouldn't be as good... the color blue is often associated with freedom... in that blue appears as the primary color of life... the color blue is infinite, therefore, the pursuit of this color implies a search for eternity... for freedom...
brown, however, implies crap... oh well...

Ben Folds Five – Smoke Lyrics 21 years ago
i don't think that this song is JUST about a breakup, i think it's about the end of ANY relationship. it's a reminder of the finality of our relationships, and an encouragment to realize relationships for all that they are: "We had it all along/ Now it's smoke."

Ben Folds – Still Fighting It Lyrics 21 years ago
i always assumed that the line "i am a bird" referenced the same "little bird" who flys around revealing secrets. you know: "I heard it from a little bird," that sort of a thing... in a way, ben's a "little bird" to his son, because he's revealing secrets about life that usually aren't realized without certain life experiences. not many children realize the mortality of lives. and that's what ben's singing to his son about...

System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics 21 years ago
THIS IS MY ABSOLUTE MOST FAVORITE SONG EVER! though, i've never really known what it's about...
It really reminds me of Shinji Ikari (from Neon Genesis Evangelion), though... A LOT.

The Smiths – Asleep Lyrics 21 years ago
holy crap! charlie never said that *THIS* song made him feel infinite! He was listening to LANDSLIDE. You know, that less-popular song by Fleetwood Mac which is ALSO found in Patrick's "Once Winter" mixed tape...
Anyway, I LOVE this song. I'd never heard it before Perks, even though I'd listened to the Smiths...
I've always sort of wondered about Morrissey's inspiration for the lyrics, though... I mean, I know that he's fascinated by death (especially suicides), but the song seems MUCH MORE personal than one that is just written as a result of intreague...
There's just too much emotion...
lonliness, desperation, deciciveness, and longing...
i sincerely hope that someone sang him to sleep... that someone loved him enough to.

A Perfect Circle – The Nurse Who Loved Me (Failure cover) Lyrics 21 years ago
i'm surprised that everyone seems to hate this song so much... it was definitely my favorite off "thirteenth step!" then again, i'm into that whole cheesy love ballad thing. and i'm definitely digging the drug symbolism...

Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics 21 years ago
for some reason, every time i hear this song i think about a terrible car crash. i'm probably wrong, but it's just what i get from it...
both the singer and his lover are injured, thrown from the car. she's near to death, and proably unconscious. "even if you can not hear my voice" / "I understand why you can't raise your voice"
to me, the chorus conveys a certain desperation in the heart of the singer as he wishes his love to life... "light up as if you have a choice," he understands that she would want to live... if she could... and he's encouraging that notion...

i'm not trying to prove that i'm right, or anything at all like that... i just thought it was weird how different my interpretation of the song is, compared to everyone else's... and i thought that maybe you guys would wonder how i came to my random conclusion...
