| Violent Femmes – I'm Nothing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| i'm surprised more people haven't commented on this song it's so great. i agree with you, hippie i don't think this song has an exceptionally deep meaning but at least it's a nice departure from song lyrics always being about love | |

i agree with mellowed out but i also felt that this song was about how religion is marketed now as a product as in jesus is the only car i drive, similar to saying i'd never drive anything other than a toyota. and also of course using fear to manipulate belief =] |

i love it. the ones that care and don't want to...wanting to break out of everything expected everything you've been told to do and want. and of course about regret. |

oh wow i can't believe i never thought of it this way. i actually think this is really about american society and culture. everything posted so far in a way is right but i think lyrics are much too broad to focus on one incident to make a person 'metal' i could learn to be a man-like you ^every boy looks up to his father at one time but this could also mean any role model may it be rock star, actor, or any celebrity. we are all expected to attempt to be 'like' them. we are never expected to exceed our role models only to try our best to be shallow imitations. "i need my treatment tomorrow they send me singing i am an american" i think this is about our prozac nation and how we are so addicted to both medicine to numb ourself and how proud we are of our so-called freedom. our society sucks us dry and leaves us feeling empty with the words "what could we have been?" lingering in our minds and yet we sing praises for ourselves to have been born and raised in such a place. "picture this if they could make the change-i'd love to pull the wires from the wall" about how sometimes we think about how we could change something but in the back of our minds we really doubt that we can change anything thus the "picture this". imagine what will NEVER happen but is nice to think about once in a while. we have successfully been desensitized to the point where we have accepted that we are nothing but statistics and if the world is not going to care about you, then why should we care about the world or anything other than ourselves? then the last part: "all i know is no one dies, i'm still confusing love with need" this, i believe is a plea, in a way. it shows how innocent we americans are in a way. we are supposed to be aware that yes people are dying and violence is everywhere but for most middle-class white americans, violence stays only on their television set and wars are far away from home so they dont' affect us quite as much. the part of confusing love with need...this is a problem that has existed for maybe forever. but media has us chasing dreams and people and hopes to give us a sense of meaning and fulfillment. most of us don't even know what "love" is but look at middle schoolers and high schoolers that just seem to need eachother so desperately and think that their obsession is actually love. in the end we are always crushed because obsession is formed from illusion. so yeah...just what i think. |

like most songs i think this refers a lot to destructive relationships but it goes beyond that also. i do agree with roachofdiscord that it could be about the break up of jack off jills. and how the bands break up or whatever really fucked jessicka up 'It’s another lonely sunset Another starless sky The nervousness inside It’s the final kiss from a lover’s fist It’s the reason why you can’t cry' i think this might refer to jessicka feeling alienated and hurt about joj and ultimately forming scarling. this song is really angsty but there's some kind of hope in it which of course makes it great. =]] great song, great lyrics. i love it. |

| Scarling – Teenage Party Letdown Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| very cool song. by building a house [[i've felt this way a lot]] it seems that they kind of built a life for themselves together with the same friends and same experiences, situations, etc...they did everything together. and then once her friend just dumped her (i'm not sure if jessicka is referring to a lover or just a friend but i assume it's the former) it's as though he takes their life and she is left with nothing. | |

| this song and other ones such as 'angel' and 'non-entity'...where is everyone finding them? | |
| Scarling – Manorexic Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| great song great song. about sensitivity and being pretty helpless when someone you love is in denial/pain/blah. i don't really understand the term 'manorexic' though. maybe they just coined the two terms together because it sounded cool? -_-;; | |
| Scarling – Can't (Holloween Valentine) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i love this song. i personally think it's about someone who sort of drifts through life, a wallflower maybe? they have all these complicated thoughts in their heads but when they open their mouths, no one listens, no one tries to listen and that person is left to doubt themselves and their existence. | |
| Depeche Mode – People Are People Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i think the reason this song is so simple is because this is a complicated issue. even though nearly everyone agrees with the message of the song, no one can seem to make this stop. racism is still strong and so is hate and this song is asking why it's so hard to stop in a simple way. also, the way this song sounds makes it sound as though it's through the eyes of a simple minded child, asking important questions that people don't ask themselves enough these days. | |

This song is about George Bush o_O (hopes that everyone will forget george bush wasn't president when this song was released) |

| My Ruin – Burn The Witch Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| maybe about a girl that's really innocent but her reputation is shredded by something...maybe what people think when they're raped? that they're so sick and impure even when they're not? or maybe one of those girls that are always called a skank or hoe for no reason...hmm I really have no idea. | |

| Nine Inch Nails – Metal Lyrics | 21 years ago |

okay wait wait, *flash of inspiration* kind of like a.i. maybe...he's really innocent 'all I know is no one dies'. He's maybe genetically engineered or a robot? 'I'm still confusing love with need' might be that whoever is growing or making him, he thinks he loves them but actually he just needs them because he has a childlike independency...and sometimes he just gets sick of it 'i'd love to pull the wires from the wall' but again, he needs them so he can't leave. He's afraid of them, he thinks he loves them, but he needs them. wow...I'm the first person in two years to comment... |

| Nine Inch Nails – The Perfect Drug Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| hmm this might be entirely irrelevent but in the video after he drinks the absinthe, which is actually not a drug but simply an alcoholic drink, everything turns green and it seems like a bunch of flashbacks...maybe after he's drunk 'the perfect drug' these things stop mattering? he can forget? and later on it turns sad and repetitive 'without you everything just falls apart', when the effects wear off? just a small notion.. | |
| Scarling – Art of Pretension Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I haven't heard this song either...seems more like a jack off jill song to me. | |
| Nine Inch Nails – The Fragile Lyrics | 21 years ago |

didn't read all of the comments (no patience) so I apologize if someone's already said this. so many comments, people probably won't read it anyways... but in another sense, it could be about just one person instead of two if a girl were singing it. one part of her is fighting to survive, to endure whatever she's going through but the other half is helpless, confused, and completely lost. only half of her is fighting. the 'fighting' half knows she's beautiful, she's tough, she can make it through this shit but her other side is naive and broken and doesn't know what to do. this part 'we'll find the perfect place to go where we can run and hide i'll build a wall and we can keep them on the other side' is kind of like saying 'if you can't fight, let's just run, i'll do the rest, just take my hand and be a whole person'. i don't know..just a thought. kind of schizo isn't it? |

| that's a different boa? This girl is awesome. *imagines her in a punk band* o.0 | |
| Scarling – Creep Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this is one of the most obvious scarling songs (probably because it's a cover). a boy singing about a girl that he's so in love with that doesn't love herself. sort of like the fragile by nine inch nails. but this time, i guess it's a girl singing about a boy... | |

I personally think this song is about both christianity and manson...not that hard to twist the two together if you've ever heard any of manson's songs ;) I met a man who was once on my side he wrote a book and now everyone lies NO jessicka once stated that she felt horrified when she read his autobiography because her significance to him was labeled simply as a 'groupie' No forgiveness you're no martyr Sell yourself Make it true There's no price tag on my conscience here's your answer it's still FUCK YOU and that could obviously be about Jesus, the first so-called martyr |
