there's not too much that i can say about this song that hasn't already been said, but i've heard some people say they thinkt his is a concept album. i don't know if that's ever been flat out confirmed by craig or anyone else in the band, but if you listen to "baby" and then this directly after, like it is on the CD then it sort of feels like it might be to me. random, but something to think about i guess? |

| i was at their show on the 11th, and dave mentioned that a lot of people thought the song was about abortion but he said it's a pro-choice song. and he said some of what velcro said, along with some other things that had to do with the couple the song is about but i don't remember it word for word. | |

"Well you never would've thought in the end how amazing it feels just to live again" is definitely my favorite line in the song, but I think that's because one day when I was listening to this song, I realized that I've overcome a lot of obstacles that I thought I never would, and it was a really gratifying feeling. That's the thing about the Used's songs, Bert isn't always clear with his wording so it leaves the songs open to interpretation, and you can make it mean just about anything you want to. Going by what him and Quinn have said, though, it's definitely about friendship. And personally for me I think it's about the power of friendship. And maybe you don't get along as well as you should, but you still love this person very much. You see this person struggling but you don't have the nerve to say something or to help them. When I saw them at Projekt Revolution, before they played this song he asked everyone who was with their best friend to give them a hug. I don't know if people actually did it, but it was sweet. |

I'm going with mommyslittlewhore on this one. It took Mike forever to write this song, what I think he called "the perfect song." And a friend of mine developed a theory that it's about Chester, and this is why it took Mike that long. Chester's background and past addictions fueled his writing for it. That's also why Chester is the one who does the vocals. You never hear from Mike. I wish I still had the document, but my friend did a brilliant interpretation. This song is so emotiona live. |

Wow, people are still arguing over the lyrics to this song. It's definitely "taste of your sin" though. Ocean makes no sense. I guess you just have to listen to Bert's voice really well. I'm not going to argue about lyrics, but aside from "keep the mask aligned" my best friend's mom suggested that he says "mescaline," which I guess, if you think about it, could make sense in a way. A lot of fans have been asking Bert what "blue" means and he won't tell, but it's not really that hard when you think about it. It's definitely about meth, and I don't really think that a lot of the references are pointing to gay sex specifically, but sex. Maybe that it's enhanced by the drug? I'm guessing there because I've never used it. People are reading too much into that. I think Bert very well could be bisexual, but I don't think that he's gay. This song is really incredible, though. And it's definitely one of my favorites. |
