An excellent anti-yuppie song

Beborn Beton – Another World Lyrics 13 years ago
I know this interpretation will sound a bit off the wall, but oh well.

The song doesn't seem to me to be about suicide, but rather a metaphor for reconciliation. After going through the pain of losing someone, probably not to death but to that person turning their back and withdrawing their love, he constructed an idyllic version in his heart of that person to keep the feeling alive.

After realizing how this was doing nothing for him, getting him nowhere, he took the painful step to move on, and is banishing this idealized rendition of the person from his heart and mind, knowing that the long-lasting suffering he's been going through is finally coming to an end.

But, that's the wonderful part about interpreting songs and poetry like this -- it can mean anything to anyone.

It could also work in the opposite direction - coming to the realization that you are no longer the good person you once felt you were.

Panzer Ag – Sick Is The One Who Adores Me Lyrics 13 years ago
Potential Interpretation: a holy man has lost his faith, and he is absolutely tormented by this, not just because it casts his past in a strange light, as if it were wasted, but because the congregation, the people he led, have probably not lost their faith, so how can he go from their leader to someone who reviles their ideals?

"On the floor, with my head in my hands,
Trying to understand,
But there’s no answers."

"Crushed down and destroyed by faith
I’m shouting out your name in my sleep
But you hear nothing"

Panzer Ag – Machinegun Gogo Lyrics 13 years ago
One possible interpretation is reconciling the feeling of someone who actually likes you when you expected no one to do so. If you're the kind of person who expected to be alone, and someone actually wants to be around you, it can be a bit off-putting.

For example, the "Maginegun Gogo" is a strange juxtaposition of ideas, similar to the awkwardness one might feel is projected from onesself. The whole time, the strangeness and awkwardness one feels can make one feel like it's all about to come crashing down, and it's a terrifying weight, especially trying to balance that latent sense of foreboding with the happiness you feel in the present with this person.

VNV Nation – Serial Code Lyrics 19 years ago
I begin this with a short tale of a friend of mine. When we were discussing the best super powers (yes, we're adults, amazingly enough), he said that his would be the ability to look at someone and have them be able to see themselves as he saw them.

To me, this song seems the same way. He wants the person to see what a worthless person they've become through their acts and deeds. He then petitions "Father", which could be God, a Priest, or his Father (remember, in older times priests could just as much be warriors/killers in the name of good).

He basically wishes this person to hell to learn the error of his ways. A very short, powerful song.

3rd Strike – Blind My Eyes Lyrics 19 years ago
This song seems to coincide PERFECTLY with the Kurt Vonnegut story "Harrisson Burgeron"; In it, a society is completely controlled by the government and media, and some people are quite literally blinded to make them equal to a "lowest common denominator"

Harrisson was basically a "superman"; He was very strong and very smart. If you read the story (fairly short) and then listen to the song it makes perfect sense.
