| Stompin' Tom Connors – The Good Ol' Hockey Game (The Hockey Song) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
OOOOOOOOOOH! The Good Ol' Hockey Game Is the best game you can name! And, the best game you can name, Is the good ol' hockey game!!! I think that more or less sums up the feelings of 90% of all Canadians, at least when they're excited by hockey action. Awesome song with simple, true lyrics. Live on Stompin' Tom. |

| I agree. Makes me wish I had to fuel up more often. | |
| Away From Here – Anatomy Of A Broken Heart Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Kickin' tune. Great lyrics. It just works. | |
| The Used – Under Pressure (with My Chemical Romance) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Absolutely fantastic. The original is one of my all-time favourite songs. While I was reading the comments on the lyrics for that version I stumbled across the post that said the Used and MCR had done a cover. I was ESTATIC!!! Queen and Bowie killed the original and the cover is... well... it's just magical. When the studio version come out on the 12th, I definitely have to hear it! Excellent cover of a killer song! | |
| Rise Against – Life Less Frightening Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This is such a powerful song. The lyrics "Is there a God tonight/ Up in the sky? or is it empty just like me?" are some of the most beautifully sung lines I've ever heard. And the message of the song is incredible. We know how horrible the world can be, and how senseless it can seem. All we ask is for a little bit of sanity and clarity, but even that is too much to ask. | |
| Rise Against – Paper Wings Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Oh, and I forgot to mention that, of course each song gets better and better. The band is maturing and evolving creating ever-more potent and explosive works as they progress. World events as well as personal experiences inspire this band to not just prove the point that they can make music, but make a point that they prove with their music. | |
| Rise Against – Paper Wings Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
The first song I ever heard by Rise Against was 1000 Good Intentions... certainly not "poppy". I do agree, however, that this song is about as close to mainstream as you can get with this band, next to Swing Life Away. The beauty of Rise Against is that they pull it off like no other punk band can. What is truly execellent about their music, besides the gripping vocals and powerful sound, are the lyrics of the songs. Rise Against doesn't just sing about girlfriends and heartache and the self-pity or angst and suicide and rage. These lyrics have meaning. That's a rare thing to find in music these days. I repeat: These lyrics have meaning! Paper Wings talks about the uncertainty of people, and how you can only truly count on yourself. You have to lead the life that's right for you, and sometimes that means leaving behind the people you wish you could take with you. Songs like these are the reason Rise Against are the greatest band around. Let's Recap: Powerful sound? Check. Powerful vocals? Check. Powerful lyrics? Check. Best damn band around? You better believe that's a check! |

| Greatest band of our time, and certainly one of the greatest all time. That's including caveman rock, so we're not even talking recorded history here. Best of all... this band will continue to be the greatest long after their children's children are swinging life away on the porch of a retirement home. I've yet to meet anyone who can listen to Rise Against (really listen, not just have a song playing in the background) and not instantly agree. | |
| DVDA – Everyone has AIDS Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song is about a man who as realized that everyone has AIDS! The song is from the movie Team America: World Police. At the point where this number is played, the 'character' is performing in a spoof of the popular Broadway "Rent", called "Lease". Needless to say, this isn't serious... it's hilarious. Such a catchy song for such a depressing situation. To add to the hilarity, in the film this number moves the other 'characters' (puppets) to tears! Sheer comic genius. | |
| Dashboard Confessional – Ghost of a Good Thing Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
How could you not die from the words that he says? The song is clearly about a girl who tried to hold onto what their relationship used to be, or what she would rather it would be. She's trying to push the relationship into the role she has envisioned in her mind, but the pieces just don't fit. He so wants to be in love with her, though, that he doesn't care that what she's trying to do can't work. They are both in love with the idea of being in love, and can't see what is really between them now... which may not be love, but it certainly is special. |

| Bad Religion – Social Suicide Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| When we voice our opinions or differ from the social norm we are osctracized for our uniqueness. Especially in the melting pot of American society. Take a page from true "freedom" and encourage a cultural mosaic, much like Canada has for years. Yes, it was not always that way, but growth and development is what we as a global community need (a.k.a exactly what this song tries to state). | |
