@MHHD2 It doesn't matter what or who happens to him, he's already made up his mind. It's disturbing that he LOVINGLY and meticulously constructs the table, and all the people around him are simple expectators that can't connect with him anymore. It's as if he's already gone, so he's just taking the final step, which is to make his own body expire. I find the role of the people more disturbing than his actions: no one tries to save him, they're ready for the show. The only entity with an expression of concern is the sheep! This is a man's slow and completely lonely path to disappearence. |

BTW, I hear "feed" instead of "keep" in that line. The intention of the elephants would remain the same, more or less. I like feeding cows better that keeping them, though ;) |

@Ar-Kikan Such critique of the modern way of life is enhaced by opposing it to images such as "elephants that sing to feed the cows that agriculture won't allow", an act of enormous tenderness and caring that humans have traded in their square shaping of life. |

@gement Thanks for your essay on Being Boring. You got it. For me, interpretations of this song that obviate its dedicated and carefully constructed queerness, are... BORING, and not just in a tedious sense, but in a phobic, full of shame and denial way. This song deserves dedicated listening. |
