I believe this song is about a man and a woman who had a relationship in which the (persona) woman fell in love. The relathionship ended and the man moved on and found love with another woman but the persona is stil in love with the man. "You could be my silver spring Blue-green colors flashing I would be your only dream Your shining over ocean crashing" I believe "silver spring" is a metaphor symbolizing what the persona imagines her love for her former lover could be like if given the chance. Here is described a beautiful setting of oceans and flashing colors. "Your shining over ocean crashing." I would even say that she could be meaning she would be the sun, the "shining" for him. "Don't say that she's pretty And did you say that she loved you Baby I don't want to know" she is becomming jealous of her former lover's new relationship. "So I begin not to love you Turn 'round, see me running I say I loved you years ago But tell myself you never loved me no" Ok so now it's time to move on. She's trying "not to love" him. In her mind she is running from the truth but she knows better. "Time cast a spell on you But you won't forget me I know I could have loved you But you would not let me" All things fade with time and she thinks the love between them is a victim of this, becomming dulled as things move on but she refuses to move on. she says she knows they could have had fairy tale love if just given the chance. Yeah so that's what this song means to me. |

OK. Back in tha day when someone was crazy or mentally ill the nice way to say it was to say that the person was "touched." And I believe the artist is using that touched in that manner. I think it's about two lovers at the end of a relationship. he thinks the woman is rather crazy and she says that he is too: "you say that i am too" the man replies back: "so much of what you say is true" .. meaning that though she sounds crazy when he thinks about it she has a point and he realizes that in a way we are all crazy and he is too. "the razors and the dying roses plead i don't leave you alone" : threats to hurt herself if he leaves .. maybe sending him presents (roses) "i'm not at home" admitting he's crazy "i'll never find someone quite like you again " .. meaning exactly that, he's just realizing and maybe sizing up exactly what he's giving up here "i, i looked into your eyes and saw a world that does not exist i looked into your eyes and saw a world i wish i was in" once again a statement on how "touched" the woman is, but he has an understanding of her and he says he wishes he could join her in her world perhaps so that he could continue to love her |

Deffinately about a failing relationship that's not exactly loveless. I believe they love but the world is winning against them. Also issues of addiction.. to each other, other substances, alcohol, drugs? , not being able to let go of dead things. "I wonder why I'm so caught off guard when we kiss. I'd rather live my life in regret then do this. What happened to the love we both knew, we both chased? Hanging on a cigarette, you need me, you'll burn me You'll burn me." Caught off guard b/c it stilll means something to him. Rather regret the love lost then watch/feel the disentigration, the tearing apart of a love that's true. "What happened to the love we both knew, we both chased?" ... self explainitory. Cigarettes sybolizing addiction, "you need me" sybolizing love, "you'll burn me" the pain they cause each other by holding on. it is actaully "lie better next time" ... i think this is a sort of denial that the persona or maybe even both partners of the relationship are in ... it's a dead horse but they dont want to deal with it. Do what you want but I'm drinking.... I think this is a running away from the problems. A way of throwing hands into the air and saying "screw it" im getting drunk ... (another addiction maybe). Sort of like saying you do whatever you need and I'll do what I need to remain here. |

| I think Spirit is right about both of his ideas ... I think it's about a person who is wrapped up in thier own world and is oblivious to some negative aspects that the persona thinks his friend needs to become aware of. A drug addiction could certainly fuel such a situation. | |

I think this side is about fucking for the sheer pleasure of fucking. Earlier on the album the persona loses faith in everything that they believed in and that faith is replaced with sex and drugs. I think "you get me closer to god" is about is his yearning to get that security back in a sort of sarcastic tone. |
