I know this sounds kind of lame, I am not a church kid... really kind of the opposite, but this song sounds like when someone dies they die and go "up into the blue" or heaven or whatever, and there are no words that can describe what is happening, it is just all a feeling, and God just wants people to trust in him and he does everything he can to show people what he wants them to know, but he ends up just running in circlces, and when he "dreams to heal your wounds" maybe that's sin, and when he "bleeds himself" that was jesus... this is a different thought, and it's probably not the meaning of the song, but I was just thinking this way could be seen. |

No shiz he's talking about abortion, and yes, it has everything to do with womens rights, you can be for or against it, it's a personal choice, but saying that it's not womens rights is ignorant. I am a woman, I wuold never get an abortion, but I wouldnt' want someone who did believe it was okay to not be able to do it because the president raped that right to satisfy his crazy neo-con base. And FYI, he isn't making fun of God, he's making fun of those people who do horrible things in the name of God. Hitler said God told him to kill the jews, everyday some crazy guy kills someone because "God told him to". This song just points out what we all know at the end, that God never comes down and tells people what the f--- to do, if you are hearing voices, you are F-d up. |

I could see this being a message to society about our telivised war's, "don't feel bad, go take your vacations, and get on with your life, they're really better off dead". Then again, when he says the line about 'I never really dreamed of heaven much until we put him in the ground, but it's all I'm doing now', he makes the song seem more personal then general. Who knows... |

I interpret this song as being a metaphor for wanting to not face reality. We have so many messed up things in the world and he rather not see it, he’s really engulfed in ideology and anyone who tells him different should just let him see things how he chooses to. |

First stanza- Friend is depressed when really he has great talents and isn't a waste of anything
Second stanza- Lady thought she had a great life until she found out the truth
Third Stanza- His brother thinks he's invincible until he finds out that he's really nothing
Fourth Stanza- This couple has found the thing he wants most and that really pisses him off
Fifth/Sixth Stanza- He finds that he's more messed up than everyone because he isn't happy, he is lonely and he has no God and that's all he's ever really wanted. |
