i'm surprised there isnt more controversy about hte "yesterday"/"yes he's dead" thing.
at the end of the song it sounds like john is randonly saying "yes he's dead", referring to the whole "paul is dead" rumor. i dont believe paul is dead, but it really does sound like john's saying that!

ok, so some of the beatles' songs do have drug references in them, but i think this is going a little far. just because it's a beatles song doesnt mean theres AUTOMATICALLY a reference to drugs/sex in them. you could say anything somehow symbolizes drugs or sex if you use your imagination.
i dont really agree with some people here, i think this song really was just about getting away from it all, especially the stress of being a beatle for ringo. |

im not sure if anyone talked about this already (theres too many comments to look through them all!) but people say that in the one part john is shouting "Paul's a queer! Paul's a queer!" its at like 1:37 on my version. i dont think it sounds like that at all and i dont know how people could get pauls a queer out of that...sounds more like "hot potato".

i love this song!!! i think it's about how the guy is in a relationship and he doesn't really love the girl...the one he really loves is "holly" but he can't be with her. it's just so depressing he needs someone else to use so that's who he's in the relationship with.....i don't think he has to choose between two girls--no doubt he loves holly way more...but he just cant be with her so he needs to use someone else to help ease the pain a little even though it doesn't help, because he still thinks about holly--"another night with her but im always wanting you". but he is so despretly in love with holly that he doesnt even care if she loves him--even if she just USES him, he'll still get to be with her and that's all he wants.... |
