Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb Lyrics 20 years ago
First off, let me say that this is one of the best songs you can listen to, and also has the best guitar solo of all time. With that being said, here is what i think the song is about. Drugs.

This song portrays drug use in a way no other does. And my opinion, i think this song takes two different angles on an OD.

For example, i think the first verse might be people looking at, trying to help, and doing anything they can do to save the victim who has OD'ed.

The chorus, however, is what is going on in the mind of the person who has OD'ed. At the current time in their mind, they have no feeling or recollection of the people being around them. Everything surrounding this person in their "comatose" state is a blur. It does say he has become comfy numb.

In the second verse, the OD victim recieves an adrenaline shot (for those saying pin prick means heroin...i disagree. The ahhhh scream is the OD person coming back to "reality" and realizing the situation he/she is in. The people who give the adrenaline shot encourage this person to do all they can to get up so they can seek help.

However, at this point, the chorus begins again. In this part, he/she is slowly coming back to reality. However, they are still in a comfy numb state. He is still recollecting previous experience from his life and blending them in with the drugs he is currently experiencing. And then, the solo guitar starts.

And, ironically, i believe the guitar solo has more of a meaning than the actual song. When the guitar starts, the OD person has come back to reality. He know he faces terrible situations and possibly death, and his life in other peoples/powers hands and there is nothing he can do about it. And the brilliant part, Gilmours guitar simulates the sound, the motion, and the mental stress that this persons mind and body is going through.

Sorry for such a long post, but, to me, i think this is what it means. It is basically what is shown in the wall for the those who have seen it.

Citizen Cope – Bullet And A Target Lyrics 20 years ago
pnk pretty much nailed the lyrics, atleast in my opinion. Basically, this song means that every thing we do brings out a consequence. Whether be good or bad, in this case and song, bad, then a target is then placed on our back. Taking a look at some of his lines, its pretty easy to understand.

Also, i agree with the rest of yall. Citizen Cope is a great upcoming band that will make some noise before all is done.

Xavier Rudd – Let Me Be Lyrics 20 years ago
The song is about peace, and as squid said, self explanatory. And for those who have never seen Rudd live, you got to check him out. Great to listen to, better live.

Oasis – Morning Glory Lyrics 20 years ago
Great song and a very good band. And for the record, morning glory is a common name for a drug, acid.

Pink Floyd – [The Wall Concept] Lyrics 20 years ago
As i have said numerous times, the great thing about Pink Floyd and their music is that it is open for all minds to come up with their own meaning. What is the true meaning behind it?....i think SGT Pepper pretty much nailed it. If you dont own the DVD, you should invest in it. You can learn A LOT about PF and the meaning of the wall. For instance, some scenes of the movie actually happened to the band members in life. Such as the drug overdose scene "comfy numb" with the burning cig in Pinks hand. The band members, at one point in time, found Syd in that same exact state. Just an example of some of the things you might learn.

Also, i like to think i have found an alternative meaning, a meaning that has not yet been discussed. However, that would lead to an entire discussion id like to avoid....for now.

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics 20 years ago
By the way, this is one of the best written songs of all time. Pink Floyd was great with their music, but the meanings of the lyrics puts them beyond the rest. They, and Bob Dylan, have written some of the best songs of all time.....TRUE artist.

Pink Floyd is amazing, and for those that have seen the wall, the meaning is obvious. For those that havent, if you are a PF fan, you have to watch it.

First off, let me say that I agree with everyone else...this song is obviously about Syd. Also, due to their deep lyrics, this song can have a different meaning to EVERYONE...which leads me to the meaning it gives me. This meaning, kind of falls in line with the Wall and a meaning that i have not seen yet.

Remember this, the human mind is the most complicated and complex thing on this earth. There have been billions of them, and not one has ever been the same. That is what makes us, as people unique.

To me, this song has something to do with authority figures (parents, teachers, etc) trying to take control of anothers mind. Instead of giving that person their own opinions and beliefs, they are fed what others believe and eventually will fall into another statistic...or a number in society.

The first five lines of this song is that kid speaking to all the people feeding their beliefs to him/her.

"Did they (society/authority figures) get you to trade your heroes (your dreams and your own mind) for ghosts (society and their viewpoint)"

"Cold comfort for change (meaning that he/she has fallen into the pit of the authority figure/society)? Did you exchange a walk on part in the war (the war against this) for a lead role in a cage (now that persons mind is closed in a cage without escape)"

"Were just 2 lost souls swimming in a fish bowl (meaning they are in the same position as everyone else), year after year (and regardless what we do, our minds will continue to be developed by society each and every year)"

"Running over the same old ground (ground that the authority figures/society has created), What have we found, the same old fears (the fear that his/her mind was developed to the authority figures liking), wish you were here (His/her mind before it was corrupted)"

I know this is a long post, sorry for that. I never post on these things, but this is my favorite song by my favorite band...plus the meaning that it gives me has yet to be posted.

Gov't Mule – Soulshine Lyrics 21 years ago
My favorite song. The best version is the Warren Haynes/ Tim Reynolds version. It is great.

And yes, Gov't Mule is great in concert. Ive seen a couple of their shows and will be going at it again in Feb.

Warren is GREAT on the guitar. Check out his solo bonnaroo cd.
