I would say something like his opinion of how people try to make themselves beautiful by either putting make-up on or getting plastic surgery (I fear that I'm in you, Now I'm into plastics, Now I've made a mask). He doesn't want to be that (But I don't feel like feeling, feeling like you)

Soundgarden – Drawing Flies Lyrics 21 years ago
My brother read all about his favourite bands when he was in high school, including Soundgarden. He told me a while back that this song was written by Cornell when he was out in a cabin by himself trying to write songs, and ended up going almost insane. He said this was the last song he wrote. So you know, it is a crazy song, kinda sounds like he's just going insane and writing what he's doing and thinking about.

"Used my inspiration for a guillotine, I fire a loaded mental cannon to the page"
Yep, seems like he just put his insanity on paper.

Soundgarden – Boot Camp Lyrics 21 years ago
Yes obviously about conformity. presidentandceo, the soundbite, probably just some electrical effect they sounded cool, meh.

What I find though, when thinking of this song as someone being controlled by an opressive government, it seems to fit perfectly. Just think of the way Germany worked during WW2, if anyone defied Hitler, they were taken care of. So everybody had to contain their views, and obey the rules. "The smoke is in our eyes" describing how their minds are being corrupted by their government who allows them to know so little. Then of course in the end, "There must be something else, there must be something good, far away", the yearning for freedom. But you know, doesn't have to be Germany, or a country for that matter. There are tons more examples, that's just the one that came to mind. This is all just speculation of course.
