such an amazing song. my take on it is the suicde/ cutting idea and what a beatiful way dave put it. the guitar is perfectly complimenting the lyrics, soft and touching. i, personally, think the ending is great as it is, without the orchestral piece. |

Possibly about needing a new start? to be honest, i have not a clue what this song is about but i adore it anyways. Methinks this COULD be the last album they make- not because i believe they have nothing left to give (cause this album is awesome and the foo fighters will always live!) but because ive read sources that lead me to think In Your Honor could, sadly, be the mighty foos' last album. I dont see how people can fault In Your Honor. it is packed with amazing riffs, powerful drum beats and dave's voice has evolved into some kind of godly force. also, there is an acoustic side which is as good as the loud songs. all in all, a fantastic album and critics need to get their head out of their ass and then maybe they would be able to hear the almighty sounds produced by the legendary fo fighters! :) |

this song kicks ass, it truly does. i always thought it was a parting of the ways- be it romantically or just a friendship "its a shame we have to die my dear", "its over and i feel fine" etc. |

I fucking love this song, its just something to scream along to, to identify your anger. I, personally, don't think it sounds anything like Lithuim and don't think the lyrics have any meaning, just raw, emotional nonsense. Maybe this song was created after Kurt fucked up Lithium, maybe it was just made up on the spot. Either way, its brilliant and I love it. |

This is a beautiful song. I never really thought of it as anything to do with drugs, I think it's more about fighting yourself and your inner demons rather than battling drugs "The angels in my dreams have turned to demons of greed that's me". The " Where I go I just don't know" part could be about taking each day as it comes, and facing the challenges when they hit you. |

I adore this song. I agree with annie_4jeffycat about the "ex girlfriend called me up" part and about it being metaphorical. I thought I'd post my view since RHCP's songs don't have many comments even though they are amazing, whereas crap such as "sk8r boi" has 1000+ posts |

I really like this song and i dont think it deserves all the critisism it gets. It really sticks in your mind and the bassline rules. All in all, an amazing song |

I absolutely love this song. I agree with everyone else about the trying and doing your best but the first time I heard it I thought it was about reincarnation "I'm so darn glad he let me try it again 'cause the last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin" and the parts that say "Preachers, keep on preachin'" etc. were about the fact that if you lived a good life you would be moved up the reincarnation cycle. But this sounds stupid. I think it makes more sense when you think of it just as that you have had another chance at life. |

Well, I think it's about basically looking back and evaluating your life. Like, seeing who you were and who you are now and thinking about your experiences. e.g, "I heard your voice through a photograph", "pour my life into a paper cup" suggest that he is looking back upon his life. And maybe he could be talking about drug addiction "How long will I slide?" "I yell it tell it that it's not my firend" but by taking it on the "Otherside" he's just trying to get through it and break free from the restraints. Also, the past experiences that are being mentioned aren't particularly happy ones, hence the line "Slit my throat". I don't think this song has just one meaning though, it is very deep. |
