I have to add to people's comments about the "I'd rather be working for a pay check than waiting to win the lottery" line.
I think he moreso means that he's willing to work on something that isn't perfect already. He'd rather be trying hard at something that has potential that sit and wait for things to be perfect. |

I think by saying the "Land of make believe" he's being a bit ironic (purposely) because Jesus Of Suburbia is, well, made up. So part of what the lyrics are saying is that in the story of Jesus of Suburbia,no one believes in him ...but this also pertains to true life. |

I think one thing i really like about this song is that the guy is the one wanting to be committed to the girl, but she isn't forgiving him for what he did wrong. He seems sweet...but she's holding her own. It shows a different perspective from the usual. It's also interesting that the guy actually wants to be in a relationship, as opposed to just the girl, as in most cases. |

I don't think the "come down now" is referring to future heartbreak...because then it says "but we'll stay" Perhaps implying that although they maybe appear to have their "head in the clouds," to them, it's real...so they'd rather stay there forever. |

I think this song is mostly talking about not stressing yourself out about, or holding onto, something bad that happened in your life. It's saying that we end up overthinking bad situations to the point where we forget what exactly was bothering us to begin with....or overall, MOVE ON! |

I looove this song...it's one of my faves from the album. I especially love the lines

I just think it's really clever...I think its talking about a few different things, and mostly how even if you make yourself appear a certain way, it doesn't necessarily make it true...sometimes you do things just to look a certain way, even if it isn't really how you feel. Just because you're not one thing doesn't make you the opposite of it.
