i've been listening to this song for about 1 1/2 hours now and i have to agree, im kinda in the same hole as someone, exept it's a little different, the girl i'm with now doesnt seem to love me back, but i love her soo much i am contemplating ending the relationship for her, to make her happy, because i know she doesnt want to ruin the friendship we had before and now it's like we never talk atall. I hate it and it sucks but i'm going to have to live with the fact that this girl doesnt like me like i like her. P.S. Love is an overrated joke |

| the "sleepyhouse" is what people called the house that the band lived in when they were just starting, they put tin foil on the windows, and would sleep all day. late at night they would get up, stoned, and into the mood to jam. The only time they would leave the house, besides necessities, would be to go to visit their families. they would look awful bad tho because of the white complexion and the black rings under their eyes. they would jam from like 3 till 7 AM | |

| Blind Melon's best-known song will forever remain their 1993 hit "No Rain." While many pop fans were attracted to the song's carefree and easygoing sound (not to mention its "cute" video), the song's origins were anything but. Many assumed that it was singer Shannon Hoon who was the main lyric writer for the song, but it turned out to be bassist Brad Smith. In the November 1993 issue of Details magazine, Smith explained that the song was about a former girlfriend: "She had a hard time with depression. I was telling myself that I was writing it about her: how f****d up she could be, but how intelligent she was and why she was so unhappy and how much she needed me to be happy. And I realized I was writing it about myself at the same time. I needed her just as much." And as far as the meaning behind the song's title, he said "she would sleep even when it was sunny outside and she'd complain that there wouldn't be any rain, because that would give her an excuse to stay in." When the song started to take off as a single, the band had been touring behind their self-titled debut for nearly a year, which forced the band to stay on the road longer than expected. Hence, they became a bit tired of "No Rain," and they decided to deconstruct it and play a stripped-down, more "trippy" version at times (included on the 1996 odds-and-ends collection Nico as a "Ripped Away Version"). On the newer version, Hoon sang the song's original lyrics, but the music was completely different. | |
