"You're not the Jesus of Suburbia, St.Jimmy is just a figment of your father's rage and you're mother's love" shows that Whatshername thinks Jesus of Suburbia is just sort of kidding himself and that he's not the person he says he is. |

It can be related to lots of things, but in the story of this cd i think it's about when St. Jimmy/Jesus of Suburbia (same person) have been broken up with Whatsername in Letterbomb (Whatshername's breakup letter to Jesus of Suburbia) and now the depression of how it's over has settled over him. Well Jesus of Suburbia and St. Jimmy are definitaly the same person but I think this song is about when Jesus of Suburbia has come out of his depression in Boulevard of Broken Dreams to ask: When will something come that makes my new life have reason? To answer wannabe's question, I think that "Jesus of Suburbia is a lie" means that Jesus of Suburbia realizes that while he's waiting for something to happen to make his new life worthwhile, he knows he can't go back to being the American Idiot Jesus of Suburbia. The song leads into St. Jimmy because Jesus of Suburbia believes that what he's been waiting for is to become St. Jimmy. This new way of life saves him by giving him the purpose he was waiting for in We Are the Waiting. lol yeah |
