| Yellowcard – Ocean Avenue Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| but I must admit upon further review, that guiwd is fucking hilarious... and it should be recognized that the reason people think they identify with pop songs is because the songs are so vague and apply to such a wide variety of people, not because they are written well but beacuse everyone has experienced the experience. they are written to be pop songs and because the band wants the wide variety to like them. Again…. They are written to be pop songs which is ok, but not what Im looking for. is it what your looking for? | |

| i dunno, but I think alot of people need to rethink the music they are listening to. because it seems more than half the posting here is negative(even if from the same people) and maybe its time for the Yellowcard listeners to broaden their horizons. theres nothing wrong with the punk seen, and theres nothing wrong with pop. but there seems to be too much of a clash here, and I dont think I can appreciate the not so deep lyrics with the cheap rhyming scheme. IF you are looking for lyrics that matter I suggest digging deeper into music. and IF you are in it just because its catchy and because its pop then by all means stay with this band for a few more weeks. So dont get your knickers in a knot... Im just suggesting. its only my point of view and Im not gonna call you a faggot for listening to Yellowcard. but as for 764-mouser, its too bad you have to ruin those perfectly good band names with your attitude, people who listen to good music obviously aren’t always good people. | |
| Ben Kweller – In Other Words Lyrics | 21 years ago |

"the butterflies are passive aggressive and put their problems on the shelf but they’re beautiful" I was reading through alot of the comments on this page, and I think I need to state something I believe in. because I thought maybe MiniMe2110 could use some incite since he/she stated that they understood the song and then went on to say that its all about BS butterflies and they don’t actually feel and blah blah blah. I dont think that BK was trying to say that butterflies have their own consciousness and literally take their problems and put it on a shelf, but that all people are butterflies despite stubbornness and other characteristics. The stuff about butterflies is an extended metaphor that I think somethingrugby has a pretty good perspective on. And I think people can understand what it means for themselves. a few people have acted on the literal meaning of the lyrics and haven’t given it enough thought but it’s a thought no less. |

"Phew.....I found it now, all of the common places are in their face. The world is trapped inside taking me for a ride And I don't know your name. " I always pictured this as a flashback when the blue jean girl and him met. love this song. at the end of this song, at a concert, BK threw his harmonica. and I caught it. great song. alot of anxious love involved. |

| Modest Mouse – Might Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this is my least favorite song. it just doesnt fit the album at all. thats why I dont like it at least. but I think this is a little more about being too side tracked to do something, not really lazy, and not really affraid either. and then hes just wondering why this thing was never done. | |

I think this is about hating the growing greedy culture and everyone jumping on the band wagon and drinking their orange julius and then going and buying their friends at a market and then to top it all off selling your conscious off. top of the ocean bottom of the sky: same place(talked to a friend that never realized that). and I always felt that the person saying this"I am not allowed much danger...." is a mix of god and the greedy business man, meaning they are one of the same. only the effigy burning doesnt support the bussiness theory. burning effigyies reminds me of epitaphs... maybe a business man with god like appearence to the consumer? difficult to say, interested in what others think tho. |

sounds like its all about being redundant... something i see alot in the lyrics of MM "Make a point to make no sense Here it comes Speak about the future in the past tense Here it comes" |

| Modest Mouse – Night on the Sun Lyrics | 21 years ago |

while this may or not be about heroin, I get a feeling of hollowness out of it. or like Im getting stabbed in the heart listening to it. like Im grabbing a fistful of a lovers shirt and crying into their shoulder because it wont work out, and it cant be helped (thats alright, thats alright) “night on the sun” meant burning hearts with lack of an emotional outlet to me. the last thoughts of the song seem to also show a redundant outlook on life. however, I dont understand what the lyrics "i eat my own blood and get filled up" mean at all. I cant even try to make something up about what it could mean maybe its about thinking about a love while on heroin? I could believe that. |

| Modest Mouse – Workin' on Leavin' the Livin' Lyrics | 21 years ago |

"I'm working on driving my dreams" I also thought it was drinking, im still pretty sure that it is drinking and that the lyrics above are wrong. but then again you can never be too sure. I dont see this song as having any real hope. I think its just a statement to comfort ones self when your so bad off that you try to think theres hope. seems almost sarcastic to me, but at the moment your thinking "in heaven everything is fine" you make beleive its true. thats how I see it because I cant see any real relief that everything will be ok. |
