| The Doors – Love Street Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| its about haight street in san francisco, the hippie central during the 60's or any time for that matter. the hippies started to call it love street (haight to love, kind of obvious why they'd call it love street) and so when jim refferres to love street, he means haight street. | |

okay so heres my interpretation, right or wrong. "Oh you know I did it It's over and I feel fine Nothing you could say is gonna change my mind Waiting and I wait at the longest night Nothing like the taste to sweet decline" hes talking about past mistakes. its almost like hes talking TO them. he did and and the thing is over and hes okay with the fact that its over now. and there is no way that his regret (i think he refers to it almost in a person-like way in this song) is going to change how he feels now. he was waiting a very long time since his mistake to get over his regret, and since hes now, over it as "Oh you know I did it It's over and I feel fine" suggests, nothing feels greater to him then finally being able to overcome the regret and to have the pain is caused him to lessen and decline, as stated here "Nothing like the taste to sweet decline" "I was down, I fell, I fell so fast Dropping like the grains in an hourglass Never say forever cause nothing lasts Dancing with the thorns of my buried past" he made his mistake quickly and suddenly, and "Dropping like the grains in an hourglass" is a line he is using to show jsut how suddenly and fast whatever his mistake was happened. he says to never say forever cuz no matter what mistake u made and what regret u have, it wont last, so dont act like it will. "Dancing with the thorns of my buried past" is a line he used to refer his statement about nothing lasting forever to his past mistakes and his regret. "Nevermind there's nothing I can do Bet your life there's something killing you" the first line is pretty much telling the listener that its already done and over, you cant fix it, so u might as well say "nevermind" and move on. the second line is another statement DIRECTLY aimed at the listener. Dave is saying that he knows that there is SOMETHING in you that you regret and the regret is deeply hurting you. he is basically pulling the listener into the song, so instead of just listening to it, you FEEL it and start to relate to it and can UNDERSTAND it. "It's a shame we have to die my dear No ones getting out of here, alive This time" he says that its a shame that we all have to die sometime, and what he says in the second line is basically telling the listener straight forward and hard that YOU WILL DIE. its just a matter of time, and no matter how much you dont want to, you will eventually. its jsut a line dave is using to place that statement into the listeners mind. "this time" is a line that is comparing death to other difficulties in life. other things and other situations in life you can get out of. but you cant get out of death. so saying "this time" is basically stating that dave knows that you have gotten urself out of alot of shitty deals in life, but no matter what, you cant get urself out of death. "What a way to go, they have no fear No ones getting out of here, alive This time" dave is telling the listener that its terrible that you will eventually die, but he says to not worry about it, because everyone dies, no matter what. so all the worrying you do wont chang that and ur really jsut wasting ur time worrying. "Finished, I'm getting you off my chest Made you come clean in a dirty dress A promise is a promise you kept in check Heart across a heart that beats it's fist" hes finished with his regret and hes going to move on. in this line "Made you come clean in a dirty dress" he accepted his mistake and what he did and didnt deny what he did, and even tho he knows what he did was bad or "dirty", hes faced it and accepted it so his mistake has finally "come clean". in doing is mistake, its almost like he made a promise. a promise that he would give in and DO that mistake and enjoy it then, but later, the other end of the promise comes about, and thats the regret. and the mistake kept its promise and made sure that dave regretted it, thus, the mistakes part of the promise was "kept in check". "Heart across a heart that beats it's fist" a refferal to the "cross my heart and hope to die" saying. basically stating that the promise was a strong promise that wasnt going to be broken. "beats its fist" is about daves heart, which is beating its fist out of anger, pain, and regret. it could also be about the mistakes heart, and how it constantly beats its fist, never giving dave a moment of peace. "heart across a heart" is talking about daves heart and the mistakes heart, and how the promise was so strong that their hearts were crossed. "Take a good hard look for the very last time The very last one in a very long line Only took a second to say goodbye Been a pleasure but the pleasure's been mine, all mine" in the first line he is saying to the listener to take a close look at your mistake for the last time. the second line is dave saying that he knows that youve looked at it closely before, many many times, and that this is the last one in a very long line of looks that you've done. in line 3 hes saying that its easy to let go of ur regret, after u take that good hard look at it and understand and accept what you did and that its over with. in the last lines of this section he is bidding farewell to his regret, and that he has learned from it, and it wasnt literally a pleasure, but it was in a way a benifit to him, cuz he is a better person for it and has learned from his mistake. its also him pretty much saying "i beat you, bitch" to his regret. "Ain't no way, DOA Ain't no way, DOA" this little break in the song comes right after the chorus "no ones getting out of here alive". "aint no way" basically says that there is no way to avoid death. its inevitable. and "DOA" is dead on arrival. so from the very instant you "arrive", or are born, you already have an inescapable death in your future. you are pretty much dead on arrival in a sense. "It's a shame we have to disappear No ones getting out of here, alive This time This time This time" this is just a restatement of the fact dave proves in this song. its a shame we all have to "dissapear" off the face of the planet eventually, but dont be afraid of it. we all die. if you worry about it, ur wasting your time. its unavoidable. jsut accept ur ultimate destiny, and dont worry about it, because there is nothing you can do. this song is meant to help the listener. since the moment you were born, you were going to die. so dont spend your life regretting your past. know what mistakes you made were wrong, but face them, and accept that you did it, learn from them and make uself a better person, and be able to move on. im sorry that was really long, but i hope it helps you make your own interpretation of this song, and i hope it helps you live your life. |

| Audioslave – The Last Remaining Light Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
these are the correct lyrics: *and yield to the hurt and if you believe the sun will rise stand alone and greet the coming night* as to the meaning, im not really sure, but to me the last half of the song is about hope. NOT HOPE LIKE CHRISTIANITY AND JESUS and all that shit, but hope as in knowing that things can turn around if you accept that fact and work on it. if you dwell on how bad things are then nothings going to get fixed and nothing will get better. SO basically, "if you don't believe the sun will rise" if you dont believe things will ever improve, "stand alone and greet the coming night" then you might as well accept the terrible situation ur in and the the terrible things to come, because, having no hope, obviously you arent making an effort to change ur situation and you arent accepting the fact that it CAN change if you work at it. "in the last remaining light" because of the above, the things that make you happy will dwindle and slowly disapear. they are "the last remaining light". message of this song? accept the fact that ur situation isnt hopeless, and that if you work at it it can be made bettter. if you dont accept it, then face the bad things that will come while your in the last remaining light of all the things in your life that make you happy. audioslave rules. |

i agree with koshmar completely. there is no doubt that this song is abut a soldier or "peacekeeper" in iraq. i just want to add some things from my opinion that werent explained by him or anyone else that posted here. "i need a gun" -basically, he feels he needs to join the military. its like a metaphor meaning "i need to join the military" "to keep myself from harm" -he thinks that the war in iraq is a war to help "protect our freedom" like many americans believe. but if you think about it, if our forces completely pulled out of the war in iraq, would we be at harm? would the US be attacked? would our freedom be taken? no. it wouldnt because iraq didnt have the capability to "harm" us or "take our freedom" before the war even started. this war is NOT about freedom. but the character in this song thinks so. "the poor people are burning in the sun" -this is the normal american view on the iraqis. as a poor, suffering people. and yes, saddam did cause many to suffer, but if you look into bagdad's living conditions before we attacked, the majority of people there, as much as you might want to deny, were happy. the majority was prospering. "they aint got a chance" -the character in the songfeels that the iraqis need help. he also thinks that by going in the military, he will be helping them, is false, for the most part. "cos' all i do is dance" -he basically is saying, "im not helping with the sitiuation at all. all i do is dance, and im not helping anybody." so to those that really want to, bitch all you want about my reasoning and back Bush up as much as you want, but just remember that this song speaks the painful truth, truth, that even to the most dedicated republican and Bush supporter, cannot be denied. |

this is about everydaylife and peoples attitudes to one another. he is saying to save eachother, from the heartache of everyday depressions and things that bring people down, because the time you spend with your peers (especially in school) seems like you will be with them for a long time, but if you look at the big picture.....they will be gone soon. off to college and a new life on their own. and when this is happening or has happend, then the time you spent with thoe people, even the ones you disliked, seem like only minutes. save each other from the loneliness. save each other from the separation after schooling (or a job you both worked at etc.) and the separation you will make from small everyday arguements and problems with your peers, that grow way out of hand and can separate friends. because if you dont.....you will miss them all when you all split up. this makes me not want to graduate highschool. |

| Breaking Benjamin – Blow Me Away Lyrics | 21 years ago |

to me, this song is about battle. (perticularly halo2, obviously) but it really is a great song and i have it blasting in my car while im driving to airsoft games. its gets me so eager to go out and play. its great for pumping up your team, as well :D. i can relate this to airsoft (they fall in line one at a time ready to play I can't see them anyway) the other team usually starts out of view, 'ready to play' airsoft. (no time to lose we've got to move steady your hand I am losing sight again) i sometimes freeze up out of fear of a extremely powerful-skin piercing airsoft gun if there is a player with one, and my hands get the shakes making it hard to aim. also, i tend not to look out at the battle, more jsut stay low. this line relates to how i feel when this is happening. in this situation, you have to recover or your screwed. (fire your guns it's time to run blow me away I will stay unless I'm made) pretty much how i feel under intense fire. almost like, 'come on mother fucker....blow me away.....i want it....' then i usually go in 'the zone' while playing airsoft. (After the fall we'll shake it off show me the way) when im hit and out, i just shake the pain and frustration off, then get ready to re-enter the next game. (there's nothing left so save your breath lying in wait caught inside this tidal wave) the feeling i get when i am in a low-combat area and i am regathering myself, waiting for a battle. (your covers blown nowhere to go holding your fate loaded, I will walk alone) this is when ur whole team is out and your fucking screwed, and you have poor cover from the massive amounts of plastic flying at you. at this point, its a fight to the death. you have no choice but to charge out and face them, knowing what is iminant. so yea. that is how i relate to it. (by the way to all you airsofters, wen you play, you cant have to mindset of "this guy is trying to kill me. i need to survive." you cannot play like that. you will end up like how i used to be, and just take cover, and eventually get shot. you must think "i WILL get this guy out, now HOW am i going to do it." that will get you the kills. dont think of your enemy as an expert, even if he is. just think on how you are going to kill him, and you will. |

| Yoko Kanno – Blue Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i think this song is about happiness, and i feel that "blue" is the equivalent to the meaning of "happiness". Maybe she was just dumfounded by a blue sky one day and it just made her happy. "never seen a bluer sky" meaning she's never been happier. "Yeah I can feel it reaching out" she feels her happiness reaching out to her and feels it overcome her. "and moving closer" her happiness is increasing. "There's something 'bout blue" she is talking about how a blue sky can do this to her. make her so happy. i think she is just reffering back to the blue sky that made her feel like this. "ask myself what its all for" what life is all for. "I couldnt answer" like, 'i couldnt come up with a reason.' "things have turned a deeper shade of blue" She has gotten happier or things have gotten better. "and images that might be real may be illusion" events in her life seem so good that they are almost like a dream, or illusion. "Keep flashing off and on" and those events keep happening before her eyes. "Free..." her happiness and a blue sky are like freedom from the sadness she had before. we all know what it feels like to be free. im sure you've all gotten it once, even if it was for like, getting out of school early or something. and it feels good. very good. "and move among the stars" like be among and accomplish her goals, dreams, and desires in her life that she has been striving for. "You know they really aren't so far" she is saying that dreams can come true and your goal actually can be reached. "Don't wake me from the dream" dont take her away from the things and events that make her happy in her new, better life. "It's really everything it seemed" basically she is saying that life IS what it was all cracked up to be. "No black and white in the blue" meaning that there is no discrimination in happiness. this is not only discussing discrimination as in people's ethnicity, but by there ways, choices, lifestyles, etc. "Everything is clearer now" just that. life is much clearer to her now. "Life is just a dream, you know" saying that her life is like one big dream or illusion, like its really just so incredibly great, that its like a dream, and she seems to refer to a dream as a very happy thing. "that's never ending" it is like one huge dream, and she seems to tie dreams to happiness with a very tight knot. "I'm ascending" ascending means basically 'to go up', and she is saying that her life in general, is rising and getting much much better. I was lying in my sleeping bag at night at a friends house when this song just popped into my head. i was thinking deeply about the lyrics (while i aws laying there, i was looking out a window, seeing dark rainclouds as it was pouring, as a matter of fact) and i got this explanation as a result. |
