| Anna Nalick – Wreck of the Day Lyrics | 20 years ago |

IMO this song is just about yet another relationship or situation that did not work out, i.e., the wreck of the day. the line "the light's always red in the rearview" means you can't turn back. but the song is all about conflict b/c she's leaving yet she says "i'd cheat destiny just to be near you" like she knows they aren't right for each other but she wants to be with him anyway. even though she's says "i know i'm not falling in love" i think that's more like giving herself a pep talk; later she says "all my resistance will never be distance enough" meaning she can try to walk away but it probably won't help. this is one of my fav songs on the album, something about her voice is so mesmerizing in this one. |

whitelightning, what makes you think algorri is lying? in fact if you check his profile, you'll see he is in fact in the military, and anna talks about him in the journal of her website... rapunzel i think some of your confusion lies in the incorrect lyrics at the start of the second verse. it should be "in may he turned 21 at the base of fort bliss 'just a day' he said down to the flask in his fist, 'ain't been sober since maybe october of last year'..." i am pretty sure that in the army you can drink at the age of 18 (feel free to correct me algorri). regardless, if he has been drinking at least since october AND he is stationed away from home, his 21st bday is "just a day" and nothing special. iciclez, my interpretation of "winter just wasn't my season" is like an expansion of the saying "it's not my day" like things have been going wrong day after day, for the whole season of winter. anyway, those are my two (or three or four?) cents. like all of you, i am loving this song and i just bought the album which is really good too ;-) |

| also, i think the line "we always say it would be good to go away someday" refers to people who think going away or whatever will fix their relationship problems but "there's nothing there to make things change" in other words they will go back to being who they truly are, so why bother? | |

| for the record, the actual lyric is "98 and 6 degrees of separation" not 98.6 | |

i'm pretty much agreeing with everyone's comments. but, i've always felt that this song was about being stuck and accepting the fact: "if there's nothing there to make things change, if it's the same for you i'll just hang." it's like he's giving up the fight. fucking awesome song, i could listen to it a hundred times in a row!! |
