The Beatles – Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) Lyrics 21 years ago
We've heard what John and Paul said; we just don't believe it. We'd like to think we're not as gullible as the reporters who they were having a little fun with. I think that's what fusionpit's story was getting at.

Dire Straits – Romeo And Juliet Lyrics 21 years ago
I love how the song transitions from glib hipness to sincere earnestness. Because it's too important to be cool about.

P.S. The bars of Orion? That makes no sense at all. I was pretty sure it was "the bars of a rhyme."

Dire Straits – Walk Of Life Lyrics 21 years ago
It's a bit sad, actually, from a musician's viewpoint. The kicker here is the last stanza, where after the listener enjoyed a great performance that took him away for a moment, he walk's back into real life. It was just a song; nothing has changed.

Stray Cats – Sexy And 17 Lyrics 21 years ago
I love this band, but it's about the music, not the lyrics.

Bob Marley and the Wailers – One Love Lyrics 21 years ago
Yeah, I wish I were half as smart as I was when I was 13, then I'd know half of everything.

Marley's reggae music is all about being a Rastafarian, which is, I'm sorry to have to tell you, a religious movement.

Just enjoy the music, and don't worry about whether you agree with the religious principles. Most people (religious or not) would find them pretty bizarre.

Pink Floyd – Lucifer Sam Lyrics 21 years ago
I think it's a psychotic paranoid delusion about a real cat.

The Beatles – Let It Be Lyrics 21 years ago
Certainly the religious aspect is intentional: the church bell and church organ riffs are pretty blatant.

The Beatles – Strawberry Fields Forever Lyrics 21 years ago
"I get a kick out of people who defend the Beatles against those who say they were on drugs. What's wrong with musicians being on drugs anyways?"

The argument isn't whether or not the Beatles enjoyed weed, LSD, or Chicken Gumbo. The argument is whether or not that's what the songs are about.

Lennon responded to a reporters question about one of his songs being about marijuana; he answered, quite indignantly, that it wasn't, and that he "wouldn't be so gross."

The Beatles – Back in the U.S.S.R. Lyrics 21 years ago
In an interview, I hear Brian Wilson say that on one day, the Beach Boys were rock stars. The next day, the Beatles arrived in America, and, instantly, the Beach Boys were square.

The Beatles – Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) Lyrics 21 years ago
"She asked my to stay and told me sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn’t a chair"

She knows there's no reasonable place to sit, except on the bed beside her.

"She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh"

She's saying "Let's hurry it along; I haven't got all night."

She's trying to seduce him, but he's not playing along.

I hadn't heard about the substitution of "Norwegian Wood" for "knowing she would" until recently, but it makes perfect sense, and reveals what his game is.
