Brand New – Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades Lyrics 21 years ago
The lyrics here are wrong. Please someone fix them because it's so irritating when the song lyrics are wrong, my goodness. Well anyways, this song is great. The meaning of this song (to me) is about a boy who isn't ready for s-e-x but he lets the girl, the "dominatrix" in this tale devour him (so to speak). It ruins the experience for him, and he feels as though he is the victim. But it is NOT rape because he did not speak up or say the magic word, not thank you, but "no." So, all in all, this song is not about rape but a coming of age song. And to prove that this song is not about rape, it states clearly, "He's holding back from telling her exactly what it really feels like." No, "no" so no rape!

For those of you who want the ACCURATE lyrics....
HERE YOU GO:

"Sic Transit Gloria...Glory Fades"
(Hey guys the title is self-explanitory "glory fades")

Keep the noise low.
She doesn't wanna blow it.
Shaking head to toe
while your left hand does "the show me around."
Quickens your heartbeat.
It beats me straight into the ground.

You don't recover from a night like this.
A victim, still lying in bed, completely motionless.
A hand moves in the dark to a zipper.
Hear a boy bracing tight against sheets
barely whisper, "This is so messed up."

Upon arrival the guests had all stared.
Dripping wet and clearly depressed,
he'd headed straight for the stairs.
No longer cool, but a boy in a stitch,
unprepared for a life full of lies and failing relationships.

(Up the stairs: the station where
the act becomes the art of growing up.)

He keeps his hands low.
He doesn't wanna blow it.
He's wet from head to toe and
his eyes give her the up and the down.
His stomach turns and he thinks of throwing up.
But the body on the bed beckons forward
and he starts growing up.

The fever, the focus.
The reasons that I had to believe
you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of...
It used to be the reason I breathed
but now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.

She hits the lights.
This doesn't seem quite fair.
Despite everything he learned from his friends,
he doesn't feel so prepared.
She's breathing quiet and smooth.
He's gasping for air.
"This is the first and last time," he says.
She fakes a smile and presses her hips into his.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.
He's holding back from telling her
exactly what it really feels like.

He is the lamb, she is the slaughter.
She's moving way too fast and all he wanted was to hold her.
Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect.
He whispers that he loves her,
but she's probably only looking for...

(Up the stairs: the station where
the act becomes the art of growing up.)

So much more than he could ever give.
A life free of lies and a meaningful relationship.
He keeps his hands pinned down at his sides.
He waits for it to end
and for the aching in his guts to subside.

The fever, the focus.
The reasons that I had to believe
you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of...
It used to be the reason I breathed
but now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.

Up the stairs: the station where
the act becomes the art of growing up.

The fever, the focus.
The reasons that I had to believe
you weren't too hard to sell.
Die young and save yourself.
The tickle, the taste of...
It used to be the reason I breathed
but now it's choking me up.
Die young and save yourself.

This song isn't about rape retardations. It is about a boy who is uncomfortable or just not ready to do it, but he does not express his feelings. He just lets the woman do whatever she pleases knowing that she is using him it makes him feel terrible, and ruins the experience for him. This song is refreshing because it is the boy rather than the girl who is venerable and feeling degrated or used.

This is by far my favorite STD song. (STD haha) Anyways ::chuckles::, I don't think that this song is about a car crash, but rather a good time he had with friends and the fact that he wants to remember it with pictures shows how important this day was to him.

I agree with KAS2398 110%. I absolutely adored this song, until I knew it was about a model. Shallow as it is, the song is still wonderful, yes it has lost some of it's meaning to me, but nontheless it is a good song.

Ben Folds Five – Brick Lyrics 21 years ago
Well, for one, this song has absolutely nothing to do with HIV or AIDS, though no one here even thought of that I know many people who have. That is pretty much ridiculous. Also, I do feel that this song is about abortion. Of course, you didn't have to be much of a genius to figure that one out. I've known that since the age of about 13 when I had first heard this song. Furthermore, abortion is murder, if you feel it's right do it, if you feel murder is wrong don't. Basically, whatever floats your boat.
