afipunk.. i think your interpretation is pretty damn good. ill add my own little bits... for me it seems that the guy has hooked up with this girl (possibly a friend) who he really likes, for her afterwards to say that a relationship will never work. in the chorus when it say "when you thought it was over it had only just begun" mite be referring to the girl thinking that th guy was over it when really he had only really just started liking her and was in for the long run. i dunno... just some thoughts. this is a quality song just like the rest of them... sums up that kind of situation to a T. can;t wait to seem funeral live... gonna be fucking amazing.

First of all Death Cab are one of the best bands i think i've ever listened to. This song is definately my favourite from Transatlanticism. When i heard it for the first time it hit a nerve and since then i haven't gone a single without listening to it. For me it's a reminder of past experiences... you can never really know for sure if someone cares about you. It's just one of those songs that i think everyone can relate to in some way or another. Personally i don't think this song could've been done any better than it was... it is spot on. |
