| The Beatles – The Long and Winding Road Lyrics

Are you guys sure that Let It Be was recorded first? I heard that they recorded Abbey Road, sort of intending for it to be their last project together, but then they went in to wrap up some stuff on Let It Be. It was then, while they were recording, that Paul got pissed off because John and George had insisted on adding a whole bunch of instruments he felt were unnecessary to his songs without asking his permission. That's when he decided to quit, and everyone else followed suit. |

Get a life, TigerArmy. If you knew absolutely anything about either the Manson Family or the Beatles, you wouldn't make idiotic comments like that. I highly doubt the Beatles were out to start a war between the races, just as I highly doubt you have a brain. I would have agreed with you, had you simply said that this song bore an ironic resemblance to the story of Sadie from the Manson family. After all, she was the one who broke the silence and incriminated the Family by opening her extremely large mouth. But I would not go so far as to contradict FACTS like the one that this song is about the Maharishi (which it is, ask anyone who knows what they're talking about, and they'll tell you) just to make some ridiculous statement about how a mass murderer like Charles Manson is God. Get over yourself. |

| The Beatles – Only a Northern Song Lyrics

I heard George wrote this as a kind of attack on John and Paul for not taking his songwriting seriously. This was originally supposed to be on Sergeant Pepper's, but didn't make it. The title comes from Northern Songs Ltd. |

| The Beatles – Martha My Dear Lyrics

Egghead's right, it's not about his sheepdog. It's about Paul's "Muse," who I guess he named Martha. He named his sheepdog after his muse, and this song is about the real Martha. |

In response to Cornerstone's theory that this song is about the time Kurt almost slept with the "Retard Girl," that really can't be true. From what I gather (I'm going by what he wrote in his journals), Kurt was planning to commit suicide while he was in high school, but he couldn't stand to die a virgin, so he chose who we can only assume was the most readily available girl at the time, the "Retard Girl." Like harmony said, she wasn't really retarded, but we can't say that she was the sharpest knife in the drawer, either. Anyway, I don't think that incident has anything to do with this song is because one of the reasons Kurt decided not to sleep with her was because she informed him that she had already lost her virginity to her cousin. This not only grossed Kurt out, but also means that she wasn't really daddy's little girl to begin with. Actually, judging from what we know about this family, she was probably something more like daddy's little daughter/niece/sister/cousin. As far as the meaning of this song goes, I just think it's about getting stoned and having sex. As we all know, stoned people are more than a bit paranoid, hence his belief that he's a "negative creep" and that people don't like him. At least that's my interpretation, and although you can argue with me, I don't think it's much more complicated than that. |
