Yeah this song is about heroin most likely, as he knows it's killing him but he also needs it, depends on it. great song, but has anyone noticed how aic's choruses for a lot of their songs have the same effect the choruses in this one has? with the higher-pitched and droning kinda wail? i dunno, i just noticed it earlier. |

man i love this song- too bad this band didn't get big, but we got temple of the dog and pearl jam from it, so at least andy wood didn't die in vain...grunge blossomed basically because of him. The song is probably about how andy considered the stage his realm...follows the trend of bands having their first song on a major album be about their dedication to rockin. (hit the lights, we die young, its a long way to the top if ya wanna rock and roll, etc...) |

yeah, we just need a metal band that can be both commercially viable and heavy as hell. wait, that'll never happen. sorry for the hope. anyway, if you take this song seriously, you need to be locked up. if you wrote this song, then you need mental help. Chris Barnes does. but he still made music, and i am personally happy he did so. without people like corpse, (and others like metallica, black sabbath) we'd still be listening to the same metal, the same shit about partying and chicks, no darkness, no apocalypse, no hell, no gore. and that would seriously blow. man, that felt good to say. and just because something isn't incredibly technical or hard to play doesn't mean it sucks. it just means the artists took their tried and true stuff and made an original song out of it, and in this case, it was damn good. |

ouch. sounds painful. kicks ass, tho. i hate the drumming on this song...it's so...just lethargic! yes, i know it's pretty fast for most music, but come on! carcass went way faster, and they even went faster on the cd. it's probably better live, if they ever play it anymore. |

you actually think chris barnes is reading this? he left the band exactly 10 years ago and is in another big gory (kinda) metal band, Six Feet Under (i don't like them as much as corpse, tho.) If anything, you're only drawing attention to this band and song by saying it's offensive and morally wrong. (i'm not disagreeing with it's morality, tho) chill. it's just a song, and you can easily avoid the band and you'll never, ever have to listen to them again. it's not like they're playing Cannibal Corpse all the time on the radio and TV anyway. |

volitile responses don't get you anywhere. yes, i like cannibal corpse. yes, i usually listen to something like the Doors or The Beatles before i listen to Corpse or Carcass or other death/grindcore/whatever metal.. yes, i highly dislike emo and 'hardcore' metal. but i still like Cannibal Corpse. Why? i really don't know. i just do, and if i didn't like it, i wouldn't listen to it and i CERTAINLY WOULDN'T BE ON HERE, DISSING PEOPLE WHO LIKE IT. SO SURE, SAY YOU HATE CC IF YOU DO. FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND ALL. AND THEN MOVE ON. DON'T START HUGE ARGUMENTS AND DEFINETLY DON'T INSULT PEOPLE'S SEXUAL IDENTITY, PREFERENCES, AND HABITS. TAKE PUNISHMENT AND WALK ON. GIVE A REASONABLE BIT OF PUNISHMENT AND WALK ON. JEEZ, SOME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP. |

yeah, I wonder how in the hell they got Tori Amos to do a song with cannibal corpse. 'here tori, great idea for ya! do a song with the most notorious gore metal band and let them mess with a sample of your voice! it'll help publicity!' the song kicks ass, too.
favorite line-
the they're all dead part.....in barnes' creepy-ass high-pitched voice. best showing of it besides on pulverized (another excellent song on that album) |

give quiffporn a break. he can listen to heavier shit and killswitch engage and still know quite a bit about metal. listening to less heavy and more broad types of metal rather than just the normal late 80's death and thrash really, in my mind, gives his opinion a more credible air. and i've read some of quiff's other stuff. man, no offense, but people really don't like you.
okay, enough of that.
this song, besides it's not-that-really-satanic nature, is scary creepy. i mean, the intro....god, the gunshots (i guess), and then the full-speed drumming...this is probably my second-favorite MA song besides Fall from Grace. |

ok, let me just say this. when you come to Cannibal Corpse, you're not looking for a musical epic, with sweeping majesty and technical precision. you're not looking for hidden meanings in lyrics and emotive beauty you can relate to. you're looking for a crushing, aural assault on the senses. you're looking for blast beats, 100rpm guitar histronics (while i admit the guitarists aren't exactly eddie van halen or even King/hanneman, but what bands are?), and creepy-ass lyrics and shards-of-glass-lacerating throat-corpsegrinder vocals. and this song delivers. Just plain sick-ass death/gore metal. |

I love this band. Look past the shock value and you see-a crazy good drummer, liquid-seeming bass, and a guitar duo who play faster than most all guitarists out there. listen to this band and all death metal with a grain of salt and an open mind. IGNORANT PEOPLE PISS ME OFF! |

Crazy horse, nothing personal, but that was annoying. and i didn't buy it! i swear! :) anyway, it does sound like nuclear war. if the apocalypse had a theme song, this or slayer's hell awaits would be it. Soundgarden is absolute genius and deserved to be much bigger that OVERRATED-VANA ever did. |

| Pearl Jam – Indifference Lyrics

This is, without a doubt, pearl jam's best song. and i'm a fan. Personally, Ten is the best album to ever be released (no pun intended), but Vs. is second best but still special. This song is kinda like their 'stairway' (an epic, dramatic, emotional rock masterpiece), yet it is very anti-rock. It's the antithesis of what a grunge newb or grunge hater would expect-it's sparse and quiet. Featuring only keyboards and organs instead of guitars (they'res bass), and having one of Vedder's crowning vocal moments (which is saying something.....), it is nonetheless brilliant. The song is a story of a relationship on the edge-either the couple could break up like that, or the person who eddie has a point of view of could work really hard and save it. Just reading these lyrics isn't enough to imagine the incredible atmosphere of the song-for all looking at this song with a slight predjudice against grunge, YOU NEED TO HEAR THE SECOND BLOCK OF LYRICS UP THERE.
more than that, the keyboards that play after the first chorus are incredibly somber and catchy...and the lyrics...christ, what more can be said. the only concievable problem could be that it really is a bit anticlimactic. BUT WHO CARES WHEN IT'S THIS GOOD? all in all, it should be the most treasured song in the PJ library. |
