| Kelly Clarkson – I Do Not Hook Up Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Yeah, I'm with beautifulbreakdown; what's up with the video clip? It's like she turns the song into a parody. Exactly what is the message supposed to be here... | |

I pretty much laughed for an hour after reading that. XD Oh, me too. What a disappointment she became. |

| Taking Back Sunday – Twenty-Twenty Surgery Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Well cosmetic surgery was the first thing that came to mind but I strongly doubt that TBS are that simple-minded/obvious (I'm hoping, anyhow). I'm agreeing w/glamorous*sunrise. Nice explanation of quality/quantity/means. That's the only part I couldn't understand in relation to the rest - assuming it's about "eye-opening experiences". | |

| Yeah, way to give new meaning to the song. | |
| 3 Doors Down – Kryptonite Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
WTF, to me it's about getting older. Plain and simple. "I took a walk around the world to ease my troubled mind; I left my body lying somewhere in the sands of time". This man has been around; he's lived, he's aged and his body is old and frail now. "I watched the world float to the Dark side of the moon" He's seen life and how the state of the world has been getting worse, war, poverty, etc. It's then about the consequences of getting older and his relationships with those around him. His friends and other people he trusts. He questions them; "If I go crazy will you still call me Superman" He's older and if he ends up losing his mind (to dementia, etc.) will the friends who once used to call him Superman when he was young and fit and able to be of assistance to them STILL care and respect him? "If I’m alive and well, will you be there holding my hand." Verse three is filler, sort of to detail the past. He's been there for people and supported them, got them through rough times. "If Not for me then you would be dead/ I picked you up and put you back On solid ground". That's why he's a "Superman". To me Kryptonite, being the title of the song in this case is a metaphor for the world/life/time > aging. It was Superman's great weakness and in this case, it's the aging process of life that will eventually turn this once young and fit guy into a weak and frail human being. |

So do you think that we could work out a sign I KNEW it was sign and not psalm. Yeah, the different versions were driving me nuts, too. |

| Wester – Martyrs If We're Lucky Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Personally, I like the overall imagery of the song. Well, obviously, I guess the quotes give away the meaning of the song itself so there's not much to say. |

On the contrary, Atemporal, it takes a lot to believe in something against all odds. Exactly. Obviously you can see college was pretty useless. Haha. |

| Acceptance – Glory/Us Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Wow, this is a beautiful song. It just came up on my playlist...I wouldn't like to think it's just another song about a girl. I'd prefer to think it's more about himself and relationship with God/universe/everyone. He's been aiming for something higher, spiritually or just in his life after being undone and now he's finally achieving it. | |
| Frou Frou – Must Be Dreaming Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I belive someone responded harshly to the first poster's comment ;) Which btw sucks. We don't freakin' care. Annnyway, "For I don't fall in love lawlessly"...that explains it all; it doesn't happen, not without angst and reservations, etc. so this, this crazed, uncontainable love must be a dream, else she's "losing it". And as long as she is, it's okay. Beautiful song. |

| AFI – This Time Imperfect Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I think anyone who says this song is about a break up or relationship troubles should go jump off a cliff o0_Fly_0o, thankyou. To those people; Who says you is a one, specific person? It's everyone else and then there's him. To me, it's being trapped in a situation, where no one understands you and they hurt you so much but you can't tell them, you can't explain; you're just too weak to do so/else they just don't get it. It's hopelessness and if not, on the verge of, suicide. Seems no one will appear here And make me real I think there's a regret in that, a past hope to be saved but there's the resignation to defeat. And I agree with the sense of make-believe/daydreaming. It's all you've got when you haven't got much else. Amazing, that one song can capture the sense of being forsaken/tortured/ashamed/resentful. I have to say this song also meant a lot to me during one of the worst times of my life. It was the only song that could. |

| Lifehouse – Breathing Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Ha ha ha, it can't be about God for those who don't believe because then they couldn't get anything out of it *rolls eyes* Yet, even if it is they can't admit that it IS and that they prefer to interpret it in their own way. Why not? Be a little more secure in your disbelief. And secure in others believing. Anyway, I didn't plan on getting into a God/not debate but I've always thought this song not to be about God and about someone/people/love and all that crap. Then I read somewhere it was a worship song and was a bit miffed. But I've come to accept that it may be and it can relate. I still prefer the other way. It's whichever way you look at it. No need for hostilities. (Obnoxious section: I'm starting to feel glad that I cannot relate to this song in any other way but for it's own meaning. Otherwise I'd be going blah blah blah about my significant other and when I break up with them, I'd post about that under a sad break-up song and continue to bug everyone with my life. Song meanings; not nostalgic tales!!!). |

| Lifehouse – Simon Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
When I first heard this song (years back), I thought it was amazing because, having been through the experience of being badly bullied, I felt it captured everything...and...it amazed me that this song could pin everything down/understand. The parts that got me the most was "You lost yourself, In your search to find, Something else to hide behind" and "Refuse to feel, anything at all. Refuse to slip, refuse to fall. Can't be weak, can't stand still. You watch your back, 'cause no one will" I still don't believe he's felt quite the same though lol. I always wish I had heard the song earlier. Thankyou, Lifehouse. I have to say, after buying NNF because it had Hanging By A Moment on it, this song was a nice surprise. I also need to add, I heard that he Jason Wade was listening to the radio and there was some kid called Simon who'd been/was being bullied on air and so he was inspired to write the song. |

Hmm. I have no story to contribute as I have no life. Anyway...I love the song. Hate the video clip. Yes, that's all I wanted to say. |

| Taking Back Sunday – What's It Feel Like to Be a Ghost? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Well, I can also offer an interpretation if the question is directed at him. If that were the case, I'll say his friend is so down, he wants to commit suicide and thinks life would be better as a ghost. So he asks, with slight black humour; what's it feel like. But the overall impression/feel I get is that it's coming from Adam himself. Anyway, being a fan of My Chemical Romance, that interpretation dealing with them is definitely, though not of my opinion, interesting. |

BlinkMe, you're so right. That and "''Cause I'm still not sleeping, thinking I’ve crawled home from worse than this. So please, please (please) I’m runnin' out of sympathy" Not to mention "if it's not keeping you up nights then what's the point". Yeah, I |

| Taking Back Sunday – What's It Feel Like to Be a Ghost? Lyrics | 19 years ago |

And yes, that would mean he's asking him "What's it feel like to be a ghost?" since now he 'barely exists' and if he's up for going out/living. Somehow I overlooked the chorus whilst typing. |

| Taking Back Sunday – What's It Feel Like to Be a Ghost? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Like this song alot, but to me, I get the meaning that he's talking to a friend of his who's basically dropped out of society, for whatever miserable reason. He doesn't go out and just sits at home complaining to HIM "and then you said a little more about your dreams like that was my call" and he's trying to help him but is getting fed up. When he finally drags him out he "buckles at the knees". He can't handle it, all the people, everything. Apparently after this bad event (I agree with the rest) the guy got a tatoo to remind himself of something...and he's not impressed with his friend for doing so. Next, he's trying to get his friend involved/interested in life again "so look closely there might be something you'd like" perhaps referring to a girl, some girl he could like...then through his friends eyes "Oh and I... Look so close its been months who knows if I Will get this right" it's been so long since he's had one that he doesn't know if he can handle it/do it. |

| Augie March – One Crowded Hour Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This song is amazing. Yes, I'm also refusing to look too deeply into the meaning of the lyrics because, honestly, I can't quite pinpoint what it's about. The notes above the lyrics give no hint either, as far as I'm concerned. However, tentatively, the beggining leads me to believe he's just seen someone he knew from when he was 16 and there's this connection between them...which leads to more (and then the ambiguity starts) but perhaps she was in fact married and now he's committed the sin of sleeping with someone else's wife. And...she tells the people around her that he did it and it was more like rape and he tries to deny it. (She says, "Boy I know you're lying. Oh but then, so am I,"). Or it could be that he's trying to get her away with him by declaring his love but she won't reciprocate - despite feeling the same - as, moreover she's part of upper-class society (fickle and shallow) whereas he's just working-class. "Now I know you like your boys to take their medicine From the bowl with a silver spoon" give the impression that's the kind of man she could only love/marry (bron rich) and he's just not that. Neither was she previously (upper-class) but she's managed to get in somehow and isn't willing to give it up. *whew* So that's just some of that... |

I looove the song. But what a disappointment the video clip was. (Much too similar to Foo Fighter's for my liking; and with a lesser song, doesn't work half as well). Although looking back at their previous efforts...not too surprising. Anyway, the meaning...to me, it's about two people who are damaged in someway, she's hanging out at "jukebox bars" late at night and he's there and he's noticed her. And...for lack of better words; he just wants to bring her down so badly, that is, he's scared (I trip over everything you say), she's scared (you start shaking at the thought) and to bring her down means/would be to get close to her, to strip all those outer layers and find out everything about her. (The reason for down being; since he probably feels insecure, he feels he's on a lower level thus he's gotta bring her "down" to his so they're familiar.) So he's no longer afraid and because she'll be so close to him, she'll need him so she won't be ever able to leave. (Emphasized is the fact that they lay "just not too close". She could still leave in that case.) Basically it's relevant to liking someone who's 'out of your league' in general circumstances. Even if they're not really, they appear to be so/you feel as if they are and...all you can do is wish to bring them down to your level. xx_sunshine I know the feeling...but..let's say I never did anything about it and purposely lost him... |

| Good Charlotte – Little Things Lyrics | 21 years ago |

"Yeah this song is dedicated to every kid who ever got picked last in gym class" Yeah, well, just HOW could I not like this song? First line of their first song and it's written for me. Rock. |
|
| Good Charlotte – Predictable Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Actually I always thought this song was about his father. (He mentions his dad leaving in Little Things). Not every song is about a girl, geez. I like the part where he yells out "You're never coming back, never". You can hear the little kid inside of him there and that he still hasn't gotten over it. It's sweet. | |
| Story of the Year – Anthem Of Our Dying Day Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| This song makes me want to stand on the edge of a cilff above the ocean in the middle of a thunderstorm looking over the city and scream it out. *sighs* Yep. Anyway when Until the Day I Die becomes overplayed, this song lives on. | |
| Story of the Year – Until The Day I Die Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Ah, so it's about the friends. I always wondered because it just almost didn't fit with being/sound as if it was completely about a girl. "My hands around your throat and I think I hate you" reminds me of Askua and Shinji :P (Neon Genesis Evangelion) Someone's gotta do an AMV to it. Since I have no idea how :( Erm. Anyway I love this song. I can't believe there aren't more comments. |

| Simple Plan – Welcome to My Life Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This song is OTT. No offence but that is just overboard whiny crap. Sorry, but it's true. I've liked their other stuff. Perfect was perfect but Welcome to my life is just too much...especially because the band is like so popular now. I mean, *sarcastic* life can't really be that bad right now, can it? Point being, hearing those lyrics from his mouth is pretty hard to believe. Also, yes I noticed the clip was a rip-off. But at least Everybody Hurts was a good song. Eh. It was embarrassing to watch. |
