This song has taken over from mayonaise as my fave of all pumpkins, its absolutely amazing. It makes me feel like Billy is returning to his roots or what he knows best (music ofcoarse). After a personal tragedy i feel like Billy just dived right back into his music, and in a way secluded himself. I think its significant how he plays a very classic pumpkins solo (similiar to cherub rock or rhinoceros) before he sings "I've blown the dust off my guitar In the attic with the stars I read your letters to feel better My tears upon the faded ink " |

To me this song is about Corgan reminiscing about his childhood and how he had dreams, and he misses how he used to be. "Dream of your own life I miss me I miss everything I'll never be And on, and on " if you look at the order of the cd, you notice this song is before disarm which is apparently about billy growing from a nice boy into asshole, as he puts it. So i reckon rocket and disarm are placed in order because they are both themed with billys childhood and how he grew up (to become the greatest musician ever). If you look at the film clip it gives you the same feel and it pretty summed up the meaning for me |

| Im not sure whether the name has anything to do with the lyrics, cause Corgan is known for giving songs very random names... but it was going to be the name of the band until Corgan decided that Smashing Pumpkins was better, so it obviously means something to Billy | |

| A lot of the lyrics would probably only make sense to him and his brother but its impossible not to love this song cuz he sings it with so much passion. Definately one of their best, and does any one know what the talking is in the end of the song? My mate said he reckonises it but cant remember what its from but its possibly a movie | |

Great song... and for anyone who wants to know why its called rhinoceros heres one of my fave Corgan quotes "Say you write a song about a chandelier, and the chandelier gives off light. And the light is the color red and red reminds you of the color you're not supposed to wear around a bull. So you name the song 'Cow'." Some one has prolly already said something along these lines somewhere but im couldnt be bothered readin 200 posts so please forgive me.....but anyway This song can have heaps of meanings to different people and thats whats so great about it, but one definate meaning is about his mothers faith, the song is named after her and in the cover book of mer de noms it dedicates the album to her. My interpretation is that he is questioning why his mum keeps her faith even though she is seriously ill. Every line in the song is directed at his mother. Maynard sings about how she never did anything wrong and worshipped god her whole life, but still god never saved her from cancer. "It's not like you killed someone It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side Praise the one who left you broken down and paralyzed" I think maynard is so confused why someone so faithful and good has to die, and why his mum even on her deathbed still follows god even though he didnt save her |
