This is a fucking fantastic song they're just so many layers and sections to it and its got melody, hard metal and loads of talent its about 5 classic songs but all just put into this one i dont care if its about stolen amps either i think the lyrics are great and i think i'll be that pissed off if i had my Marshall pinched. |

Yer, I'm not sure this song has a meaning because it's instrumental but it's great to make people listen to when they say Metallica are just a heavy band and just play aload of noise. I also like the fact that the comment by Serah2k2 had two words in and both were spelt wrong because of typos, and I think her names suppost to be Sarah2k2. |

I agree with tgd about this song being about capital punishment and how it shouldn't be forgiven, I think this was Richies' and Nickies' veiw because they wrote the song. Nothing to do with the song- I agree with them a murderer shouldn't be given food, water, access to family etc, theres only one acceptable punishment. |

Yer most of you've got what it's about, the lyrics hint that it's about loving someone but its really about genital warts like it said when it was tabbed in Total Guitar, "Can't get you out of my hair" is refering to pubes. Think what this song's about is settled now. |

It said in Kurts biography "Heavier than heaven" that this was about the band being raped by MTV and the rest of the media like most of you've said and he played it once on MTV and they said if he played it again they're cut him off the air because they gathered it was about them. In true rock fashion next time they were on Kurt just made unrecognisable noise with his guitar then the Krist went into Rape me but just before they were about to be cut the band went into Lithium. |

MB777's got it when it's about "missin' your chick at home" i saw it on the same dvd of making of the black album. James also said he was on the phone when coming up with the finger picking intro and just added little pull offs to it after and it was a personal song and the others weren't suppost to know about it until he started playing it and someone overheard. |

I'm with wildy, James writes alot about war and the injuctice of it and when it was tabbed in Total Guitar they confirmed this thats what the lines like "Smashing through the boundaries" are about, i'm not sure putting batteries in something is the basis of good lyrics! |

I'm not sure about the whole thing about it being about Hetfields mum guess it could be if what you're talking abouts true but i've just got a dvd of the making of the black album and it's got a part on saying about the god that failed and its about when James was at school his parents made him a medical christian so he couldn't do stuff like stay in lessons talking about health because god would decide and all that so it made him feel alienated. |
