Love this. This is by far the best Placebo-song out there. I think that he sings about his usually-one-sided-love; how he falls in people he can't get... 'cause "he's in the basement" and the other is "in the sky". After rejection, he "falls apart and counts to ten" and then tries again, although knowing it will be futile. He hopes that the one he loved would "drop on by" his life, but the other one is gone and never will be back. |

There are applauses at the end of the song, so I think this is live-only song. And so it seems:
"Performed live during the 1984 era, it is a variation of the song Three, from Seventeen Seconds." |

This is... the saddest and darkest song ever written. There are other dark songs, of course, but I find something unfathomable hopeless in this that I can't find anywhere else. I simply love it. The best The Cure song ever - in my humble opinion. |

To me, this is a song about someone who knows that his/her end will be soon if he (or she) doesn't find a reason to go on. This person keeps love in high value, because apparentially it is what he/she is looking for - but the one this person loves seems to be distant or doesn't want to be loved. And this is not the first time when something like this happens, and
it is extremely frustrating. |
