Stop spreading blatant misinformation ADDMAMA :( You need to take your own advice. The ADD line in the song is not meant to be taken so literally. People in his life (including himself) are blaming his deeper misunderstood problems on ADD. |

| Excellent interpretation! Despite the lack of grammar, your description is spot on :D | |

@Slade520: "I think this song is about his inability to communicate his feelings and thoughts due to his ADD" Hate to break it to you, but this is just not true. ADD does not cause an inability to communicate thoughts and feelings. I have ADD myself and have done plenty of research. Sorry, I just hate it when people spread blatant misinformation! As DawnOfSanity said, ADD has been highly over-diagnosed for years, which causes a lot of common misconceptions. It certainly isn't anywhere near the realm of an "intellectual disability." I believe the character in this song says "I blame it on my A.D.D." because he (and those around him) lack a deeper understanding of his full psychological problems. Regarding the music: this is a DAMN cool song with a really unique sound :) |

No offense, but this interpretation made me laugh out loud... you can't be serious, can you? As far as I can tell, none of the verses support this claim. Feel free to try and explain, though! |

| I love the little piano riff that comes up in the background (during the chorus, I think?). Great song! simple, catchy, pretty, fresh, cute, etc.. Also for some reason I love how they use the word "reckon"... you don't hear it very often but it always brings a smile to my face :) | |

This song is awesome! I love the back-and-forth between the lead and backup singers, and the great "you need more" chanting. Yeah, Prometeo is on the right track about the meaning. Here's my interpretation: The song is speaking to some one in a "rut," probably really jaded, depressed, or even afraid to get out and meet people. Either way, the person is feeling unfulfilled in their life and they "need more." The first bit, "Boy it's tough getting on in the world//when the sun doesn't shine and a boy needs a girl," could be about when day turns to night and they're all alone in their bed, longing for some intimacy. The chorus is about not needing all the superficial and shallow things that people might gravitate towards in their attempts at finding love. The line "Too much of anything//is never enough." Is about how no matter how much materialism/vanity/fame you pursue, it'll never be enough to make up for a lack of love in your life, since you're looking in the wrong places! But hell, as Prometeo stated, the song's a bit cynical in stating that these things do help a bit :P At the end of the "you need more" chanting sections, the last line is "you need love." BTW, the music video is equally incredible! Sort of reminds me of old-school sidescroller video games mixed with the randomness of Monty Python. P.S. Haha, I always find it amusing when the first few people are surprised that nobody else is making comments... it's a new song, and this website isn't that well known! What do you expect?! |

| Totally awesome song, it's definitely underrated by fans. Those mandolin solos (bridge and outro) get me every time... that melody is amazing. | |

| great comments! hellomello- I dig that drum beat too. When I first hear the beginning it reminds me of a Radiohead song - High And Dry (another superb song :) | |

| Couldn't agree more with your posts- this song is amazing. The sort of ethereal tone of the whole song blends perfectly with the vocals and conveys that terribly bittersweet feeling of a crush. | |

| I really really dig this song. I envision complete trust between two people as they set off on a spontaneous expedition to find the beauty of life. Indeed they do. | |

| Awesome song, one of my favorites. I love the part when it gets all soft and melodic with the eirie cello in the background, and then the whole quiet "let you go to sleep..." part. It perfectly leads into the AMAZING guitar rock-out at the end, which I get stuck in my head often :) | |

Wow. Listen carefully to this part: When they lay down the fish will swim upstream and I'll contest, but they won't listen when the casualty rate's near 100%, and there isn't a pension for second best or for hardly moving... The harmony at the verly end when it gets to "...ly moving" ....wow. gives me the chills every time, and is followed by the amazing chorus. |

I really like this song, one of my favorites by the pumpkins... At first I didn't like it at all because of the abrasive and excessive distortion, but it really grew on me. I find it so pleasing when the chorus comes around.. "It's what you wanted to see, it's who you wanted to be for what you needed to need, she'll make it up love, it's who you know " And also the part immediately after, "When I lost my mind, I knew I was in for the long run" (which is not in the lyrics provided here) ...just so great. As for the meaning of the song, I'm not sure, but it speaks to me for some reason or another, especially the main chorus line, "love, it's who you know." It seems to somehow mock the concept of love. |

Great original song, great cover, 311 rocks. Question for you guys... A Perfect Circle did a live cover for this, did they ever do a studio recording? because I really liked that version but it's low quality and the audience is kind of loud. If so, I gotta get it :D |

I have a slightly different opinion on the meaning of this song, but I mostly agree with BuGaLoU on this. I think it could describe a crush of sorts, which at least in my experiences are love/hate relationships. He wants her more than anything and as BuGaLoU said he has been, "really been nice to this one girl he cares about a whole lot, and he just wants to be with her." Sadly, his efforts are fruitless, which I'm sure everyone knows is really frustrating and depressing. She is going away for a while, and he may be trying to see what he did wrong, he is both frustrated at himself and at her for not getting the girl. |
