I pretty much agree with most of you that it's about someone who isolates themselves so much from everyone because they feel unlovable that they become what they've always seen in themselves: someone that no one can ever love. As much as they want to be happy and connect with people, they can't get over the feeling of inferiority.

the aquabats rock my shoes off! they are sooooooo insanely fun! this song especially. i'll never forget the naked guy backflipping into the audience and getting knocked out at their denver show last year! they are super rad! |

i love teh "exchanging our affections through a drawer" line...it's like at a gas station or something but with affections as money, so that it's become an everyday routine that has no feeling. and the "i'm not gonna bless you with suck compliments, some degrading psalm of praise like the kind that converted you to me so long ago" where he's talking about what suckers people are for compliments and how fake they can be...it's definately both a love and a hate song. one of my favorites from bright eyes...but arent they all? |

i think it also has a "save me from myself" theme in it....like sometimes you just want to fly the plane into the sea. So it's keeping yourself from doing that. But also everything else you guys have said. I love this song. |
