Warren Zevon – Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner Lyrics 16 years ago
Patty Hearst physically exchanged currency to get that rifle, that's how I've always taken it. I also think that Roland is actually in all those places, that it isn't purely symbolic.

I mean, he walks around with his head blown off. I'm sure he can do a little world travelling.

Also, I like the thought that Patty's gun (actually a carbine) is Roland's gun, just passed down. But the "buying into it" explanation might be right, anyway.

Warren Zevon – Excitable Boy Lyrics 16 years ago
Warren once asked his bandmates (pre-Warren's solo-career success) why they never let him play lead guitar. They said, Warren, you're a great guitar player, but when you get up there, you just get too excited. He replied, "I'm an excitable boy."

Also, the Kafka line you're talking about is the first in Metamophosis, and I think a lot of people laugh when they first read it because it is so out of left field.

Warren Zevon – Desperados Under The Eaves Lyrics 16 years ago
It's not the Eagles. A radio DJ suggested that to Zevon and he dismissed it, saying that it had "nothing to do with the Eagles."

Frey and Henley don't do background vocals on this track, though they do appear in other parts of the album. They were not good buddies (in the same interview, Warren says they "drank at the same bar," but no more) but rather the good friends of Jackson Browne (cowriter on Take it Easy, to name just one), who was a good buddy of Warren's and ... wait for it ... the producer of the self-named that this song appears on.

Bonnie Tyler – Faster Than The Speed Of Night Lyrics 19 years ago
We need to have sex now.

That's what the song means.

Talking Heads – Heaven Lyrics 19 years ago
Roger Wilco, you are correct.

Zooey74, I'm not even sure what that means.

It's about how stressed out they were, how their lives were all sense input, intense, constantly changing psychadelia, Heaven must be an escape.

Talking Heads – Life During Wartime Lyrics 19 years ago
Byrne said it was just a bunch of different things that people would say/do during an urban war.

Although I'm sure it has a bit to do with the band analogy.

Talking Heads – Psycho Killer Lyrics 19 years ago
The song is about a generic serial killer. He's trying to impress you with the French. That's what Byrne said.

Also, Talking Heads technically New Wave, though I don't really feel they fit into the genre.
